Q: replace the evaporator while youre in there. i changed my 99 dakota evap in the driveway and when i got it back together the heater core leaked. i did it twice and do not recommend the procedure to anyone. it can be done but you will wish you had paid the $1000 labor after youre finished. -- homebrewer http//85cj7.blogspot.com/ http//85cj7.webhop.net/ http//funfacts.webhop.org/ when you decide something is impossible to do try to stay out of the way of the man thats doing it. why does chrysler insist on burying parts designed to wear out behind so much other stuff. parts with a 3-5 year life expectancy should not require 8-12 hours labor to replace. my 2000 dakota has a heater core leak. the entire dash has to be removed then the heater /evap box has to be removed and that means the a/c must be emptied flushed and refilled with r134. 8-12 hours shop time for a 100.00 part. plus who knows what else will need replacing along the way! dodge has done crap like this for years and i hoped it had wised up. and this is just wrong on soo many levels! anyone got any tricks to help a poor $ap save about a grand a do it himself. .

bryan on the manual i mean the factory service manual not the owners manual. i felt like your answer was referring to the owners manual which i dont think explains the adjustment of the transmission bands. not trying to be hateful just trying to be sure were on the same page. and i hate to ask this but i have to since i was involved just yesterday with a you gotta be joking of course i checked that problem with a friends 02 intrepid and some shifing problems...you did check to see that it had enough fluid right we serviced my friends auto tranny on his wifes intrepid and it was slipping; only to find out that the initial read of the fluid level was incorrect and it needed three more quarts i still dont know how we got that wrong. also check the fluid spec on that. i think yours and my old one are atf+3 but make sure theyre not atf+4 i dont know what the difference is...but it cant hurt to be sure you have the right fluid in there. fwiw. --hc .

i would suggest spending the money and buying the shop manual and i believe you are misinformed when you say not as detailed as chiltons. are there manuals out yet for the new generation models i have checked the web the best i could and all the local dealerships. the dodge dealer wants $100 for one. i have one i bought of ebay for $10 in cdrom format but its 2800 pages. i would spend more in ink then i would buying the $100 manual. plus the dodge dealer one is most likely a shop manual not as detailed as a haynes or chilton. thanks john .

on sun 27 mar 2005 201304 -0600 d. wilkinson dwilki@cox-internetspam.com wrote been looking at a dodge hemi 2500 quad 4x2 short bed. cant seem to get anyone to give us an idea of the estimated miles per gallon. trying to decide if i should go the hemi or diesel. will be using it to pull a 5th wheel that will weigh about 8500 lbs and general use. thanking in advance.................. as has been noted the subject of this thread is an oxymoron. anyway i have a 2004 2500 4x4 reg cab hemi with 5sp standard. in 15k miles the best ever tank was 14.5 mpg highway with no trailer or load. overall average is about 13.5. towing a 6000 lb trailer i get about 10 mpg and our friends with a cummins diesel and a heavier trailer leave us in the dust going up hill while using less fuel. woody; 95fxds .

when was the last time it had a tune-up and have you run any injection cleaner through it how many miles are on it -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving ive got a 97 ram with the 5.2 engine and it takes about 4 or 5 seconds to get it started. i replaced the fuel pump about 6 months ago so im sure it gets plenty of fuel pressure. where do i need to start looking to figure out what is keeping it from starting quickly when i first got the truck it would take just a quick turn of the key to get going. thanks. .

i thought that perhaps that was it but unless i am mistaken the new common rail engine has a redesigned blow-by system where the oil gets recycled back into the oil pan. that being the case is there still a way for it leak out there is. theres a black plastic tube about 3/4 od or so sticking down from the engine. this is the vent tube for anything that the new-and-improved blowby system misses. mine emits a fine mist from time to time. not enough to drip on the the ground but enough to ensure nothing in its vicinity will ever suffer from surface rust .
