bdk wrote tnloaswpraemnmcien5g@earthlink.net says... i was planning on removing the axles too. im not sure if the front differential will leak oil at the output shafts once the yokes are removed. is it safe to say the yoke will not stay in without the axles in place why did you get a 4x4 in the first place then if youre serious about this the you need to remove the axles remove the u-joints then re-install the outer stub shafts because they hold the wheel bearings together. youll also want to remove the differential from the case drain the fluid and make some kind of rubber plugs for the axle tubes so you dont load them up with road crud assuming that at some point youll want to put this all back together. if you save 2mpg ill be impressed. people did all this stuff years ago a friend butchered his 78 power wagons front end for a whopping 1.2 or so mpg. insane at 3 bucks a gallon even at 5 bucks its still crazy. bdk the insane part was dodge building the truck without lockout hubs to save a few busk and costs. there is no excuse for a new 4x4 truck to ne sold with no front axle disconnects. you do aslo gain smoother and quieter operation because you will no longer have a front axle spinning up in the truck and the mpg gain will be a lot higher in winter when front axle lube is thick from cold. -- ----------------- www.thesnoman.com .

d-150 i dont have a real answer for you with the exception of the gate open message is a ramcharger thing. i have no idea why a d-150 has a bulb or wiring in that spot. it would be interesting to find out why it does but i think if i were you id just yank the bulb. .

forgot to say mine is a 05 1500 havent had the truck but a week and tonight driving home from the lake with the boat in tow. i noticed something a little odd. i thought. when running with the low beams on i would intermittently see the high beam indicator flicker. nothing major the lights them selves didnt seem to switch to high even momentaraly. no biggie just odd. so my question is.. has any one else noticed/heard of this. is it normal for these dr trucks this was the first time driving at night with the new truck. chris .

i was driving my wifes 2001 town and country tonight and i noticed that none of the lights are on for anyting in the center of the dash. all of the leds were lit if the device was on like the ones on the radio and digital temperature control but there was no back lighting on anything else. i would have figured that there would have been lights behind the buttons on the radio and the buttons of the temp control. it is impossible to adjust either device at night without turning on the overhead light so that you see even the power button. does anyone have a schematic so that i could identify the common wiring for the entire center of the dash or has this happened on other vans and a solution is already known hell for all i know it may have been this way since we bought it as i very seldom drive the thing let alone drive it at night. -jerry .

on sat 24 sep 2005 175719 -0400 wannabee pandl@farmerstel.com wrote truck holds a long time in first gear. if you manually shift into 2nd it appears not to have 2nd. if it shifts on its own it takes 2nd. but when in a pull and it tries to shift into 2nd it comes out of gear. any ideas on what is wrong any codes/errors it could be mechanical like the valve that went on our ram or could be something as simple as the speed sensor which i think would generate an error code.. mac please remove splinters before emailing .

excuse my ignorance but what is an intercooler also called a charge air cooler it cools off the hot compressed air from the turbocharger because whenever you compress air you raise its temperature before feeding it into the intake manifold because colder air is more dense and therefore gives you more oxygen in the cylinders to burn more fuel and make more power. if you look on the passenger side youll see how the discharge pipe from the turbocharger goes into the passenger-side of the intercooler. on the left drivers side youll see a pipe that brings that air from the intercooler up into the intake manifold. .
