Q: if it were the engine i would tend to think the vibration would be present whether the vehicle was moving or not. it would also be rpm dependent rather than speed. gary wrote all of these supposedly were checked out by the service dept before the decided to replace the engine under warranty thankfully. they replaced the harmonic balancer before the engine. didnt know if there was any common problem to the model that others may have experienced. thanks gary .

i dont have the money. they wanted 800 to 1000 to do it. joe wrote shes got 108k on her. the noise starts low pitch with acceleration she gets much higher. i put her on stands to see where it is coming from. it is the rear end for sure but which ever side im on it sounds like the other. i got in the center and still had a hard time telling. being this is my only vehicle i was just going to swap out the rear end. is there any other tests i may do that would point in a better direction. any places in particular to get a rear other than a junk yard. how do i know what my factory rear end is why dont you just have yours rebuilt it only takes 2-3 hours for a good shop to do it. a lot less time than swapping the entire rear and you get all new parts. -- .bob 1997 hd fxdwg - turbocharged! 2001 dodge dakota qc 5.9/4x4/3.92 1966 mustang coupe - daily driver 1966 ffr cobra - ongoing project .

sometimes i can smell antifreeze but there again i cannot find any leaks or drips underneath the truck each day where i park. has me stumped. any help appreciated. sometimes the thermostat housing leaks a little and the coolant evaporates from the heat of the engine before it drips on the ground. i had this happen with my 95 and i only noticed it because of the antifreeze smell. give a good hard look all around your engine looking for traces of coolant. a leak detection kit some dye black light and glasses can make this a lot easier - most auto parts places carry these. oh and its best to fill the overflow tank when the engines hot. as the engine cools it will want to suck in coolant from the overflow. .

roy wrote i checked my tire pressure on my trip to ny and noticed its rather hard to check your rear tire pressure and fill it with the current lay out of the air valves. i havent found anything specifically for these yet. except for rubber valve extenders--yuck! anyone know of a better set up i adjust my pressure pretty regularly as to whether im towing my 5rh wheeler or not. -- moparman---remove clothes to reply! --scud coordinates 32.61204 north 96.92993 west-- ive found a little trick i use when hauling my 5th around to check for a low tire. i use an infrared thermometer. just point and click. it tells you the temperature of the sidewall if that is what you are pointing at and of course that doesnt tell you what the pressure is but when you take the temp of all the tires it tells a story. a low tire will generate more heat than one that is pressured up to where it should be. when traveling with the 5th you should be checking your pressure every 200 miles or so. what a pita if you have to get down and fiddle with the pressure guage cap etc... i use the model shown here http//www.radioshack.com/product.aspcatalog%5fname=ctlg&category%5fname=ctlg%5f010%5f005%5f001%5f000&product%5fid=22%2d325 or http//tinyurl.com/nznz for short. it is radio shack catalog # 22-325 and is on sale for $30 down from $50. works fine for me ymmv. -- fmb only one b in fmb thats a short money handy thing to have around. gotta get one! roy yeah also check out the temp on those dodge leather seats dale .

got a 1999 dodge ram 1500 4x4 and the steering box is leaking. anyone ever have the problem and had to repair i bought a repair kit but have yet to tackle the job. any tips before i do it ----== posted via feeds.com - unlimited-uncensored-secure usenet ==---- http//www.feeds.com the #1 group service in the world! 120000+ groups ----= east and west-coast server farms - total privacy via encryption =---- whets leaking on it if it is the seal that is just above the pittman arm it is pretty easy to do that is what normally leaks. once you remove the arm and the lower c-clip just turn the steering wheel full to one side with a pan under the seal and most of the time the pressure will just pop it out. this makes it really easy. then put some lube around the seal to reinstall it. glenn beasley chrysler tech .
