anyway i am picking up a 94 ram and i was wondering what the quirks are with this it has the 318 motor. the biggest quirk would be the weak and often blown intake plenum gasket. the intake uses a bellypan sealed with a crappy gasket that sometimes collapses and allows the intake to suck in oil from the lifter valley. this results in carbon in the combustion chambers leading to pinging. the fix is to pull the manifold remove the gasket and replace it with rtv. not a huge job but a mild pita. do these things still have the ballest resistor on it bal-what nah... the computer controls the voltage that gets delivered to the coil. how do the trannies hold up in these things auto or manual anything else i need to know about this truck any recalls plug in the last 8 digits of your vin here for all recall information http//www.dodge.com/webselfservice/dodge/index.jspscreenname=recall&country=us&emailurl=gotoemailform%28%27r%27%29 .

my 3.9 dakota will not idle when it is warmed upi can start it in neutralkeep my foot on the gas then shift it into drivebut it will still stall if i dont keep the revs up to about 1000 it starts fine and idles when cold.is this a computer/sensor problem any ideas would be appreciated. i had this problem with my 97 dakota 3.9 last summer. it ended up being vacuum leaks that were fixed by retorqueing the intake manifold. ken wow ken! that must have been a menace to determine....how long did it take to figure that one out er about 10 minutes and a can of carb cleaner. checking for vacuum leaks when there are idling problems is usually one of the first things i do. ken .

what/where would be my best bet to find a stock 16 rim for a 97 ram laramie slt any idea of cost one of mine got curbd hard enough to break about 4 of the outside lip where you mount the wheel weights. miraculously the tire has stayed inflated ok but now its getting close to time to buy tires and i know they will not be able to put another tire on this rim. im in houston tx if anyone locally has something theyd consider selling. thanks. i dont have a rim but ive had luck finding such things on ebay. ken .
