eagle view wrote hi i am looking for some information or other people who have had similar situations. my truck has 150000 miles on it without any truly hard use. has had fairly regular preventative maintenance. about 1 1/2 weeks ago a regular clunk developed under the hood. it would get faster as the truck moved faster. i took it to two different shops and asked them both to please check the u-joints. the first shop said yeah theyre a little loose but not bad. the second shop told me i needed the ball joints replace. i know the difference between ball joint noise and u-joint noise. well needless to say last friday evening i had a catastrophic failure of the transfer case. not only did it basically disintegrate internally but the outer case broke into parts. i lost the front driveline the transfer case and have a huge dent in the transmission oil pan. has anyone else had similar problems thanking you in advance. ardis @ eagle view sounds like it was low on oil and siezed up or it was in 4wd without you knowing it for a while and the chain wore and stretched and tried to jump a tooch and self destructed. your level of damage strongly suggests it was in 4wd when it failed where it was selected or not because in 2wd is is a simple pass thru unit with very few internal parts moving. -- ----------------- www.thesnoman.com .

i first used rain-x in 2002 on my 1964 studebaker t-cab pickup which i drove from austin tx to rhode island via south bend to catch the stude international meet. never ran into any rain until someplace in ohio an rain it did by the bucket. i was so amazed at the performance of rain-x including the fact that i never had to resort to using my wipers. jt eric g wrote the biggest thing to realize is that with the stuff on the glass you dont need to use the wipers as much as youre used to. the haze comes from the wipers doing their thing with no water/lubrication between them and the glass. my dad caused the haze by doing what came from 50 years of driving experience turning the wipers up to fast because its raining harder without realizing how little water was sticking to the glass. i have used the stuff for 10 years and set the wipers to intermittant as slow as needed to keep the view clear. the other advantage of these chemicals is that ice doesnt stick to the glass in the winter. eric g per rscamaro as for the visible residue left by using rain-x someone made a comment about it i cant remember ever noticing anything of the sort and ive been using rain-x as well as clear wax since i was a teenager over 20 years now. i made the comment. my guess is that you figured out how to apply it properly on day 1. ive tried it a few times but was always put off by the wiper haze. last time around somebody said to buff it a lot with paper. same old same old.... i think ill try it again though - using the microfiber cloth after letting it set up for a few hours. when the stuff works it *really* works.... its just that darn haze when the wipers are on at nite. -- petecresswell .

per budd cochran mr-d150@preciscom spam.net the 2 second following rule applies in clear dry weather in rain add 2-3+ seconds and snow add about a minute but ymmv. how much success do you have with observing 2 seconds in urban freeway/turnpike traffic same as anywhere else. i just leave early enough to not have to rush. vbg i seem to wind up with less than a second most of the time as people pass me and pull into the space ahead - so sometimes ill find something like a bus or 18-wheeler thats keeping up with traffic and follow it - which gives me closer more like 1.something seconds. for some reason people seem to tolerate my having more distance behind a large vehicle - my guess is that while theyre out there in the passing lane theyre reluctant to pull in right behind something that big - figuring big=slow. -- petecresswell its called the fear factor but what it really is could be called the id rather you plow into him than me factor. the best lesson i ever learned about driving was a story about two drivers that approached each other on a single lane bridge. they sat there for a few minutes then one stuck his head out of the car and yelled ill never back up for a roadhogging idiot! a few seconds went by and the second driver yelled i always will. and promptly backed off the bridge. no one has ever caused an accident by driving defensively that i know of instead of aggressively. besides it lowers blood pressure reduces stress and prevents road rage. .

is it the wrong group ;^d the mounting bolts for the blades on most mowers gets hard to remove because of corrosion. use wd-40 on the threads every time you pull it off to sharpen it and it should be sharpened whenever you see any tearing of the grass instead of a clean cut. this will reduce brown spotting. personally i dislike mulching blades as they are a bear to sharpen because of all the twists and turns that supposedly mulches the clippings. if you decide to buy one be ready to pay more for sharpening or buy a small angle grinder and a blade balancing cone so you can do it yourself. also your bagging attachment will not work as well or not at all. . . .no airflow from the blade. back when i was a teen i just mowed in an inward spiral pattern that threw the clippings onto uncut grass then the standard blade recut them over and over. by the time i got to the middle there was but a handful left to scatter on the new mown lawn. the surging could be moisture in the fuel dust and dirt in air cleaner or just needing a good tune up. if its moisture a tablespoon of heet will clear it up. dont let it go too long or it can damage the carburetor. budd lol sorry wrong group hi i decided to service my mower myself this year oil is easy to change but having a heck of time gettin the blade off to sharpen. cant find my manual. is there a trick to getting the blade off. ive got a honda harmony hrt about 8 years old. original blade. i was wondering if maybe after 8 years i should get buy a new blade its one of those mulching blades. also when it runs it seems to rev up and down after a few minutes does anyone know whats causing this any help greatly appreciated guess i had the right group afterall thanks budd also iirc the bolt that holds the blade in place on my mower is *left-hand* thread. you might want to clarify whether or not yours is/are too. if the bolts is/are just too darned tight you might want to use a 6-point wrench or socket on the bolts. bryan .

are you that stupid as to think ive never been in worse than that conditions just where were we talking about worse conditions we were talking about specific conditions that you now seem to want to avoid. how about fog so thick you couldnt see the end of your hood if you didnt have the headlights on in nice try at changing the subject. or a s.e. colorado downpour that dumped 3 in 30 minutes. had you been alongside a semi during that downpour youd know exactly what were talking about. mister ive been thru far worse than his rooster tail and common sense and careful driving kept my butt out of accidents that put other not so careful drivers on the autopsy slab. that may well be but it doesnt address the matter at hand. please try to keep up with the conversation. dave .

lol i dont know about the right group for mower help but you did find an old mower mechanic anyway. vbg glad to help. budd is it the wrong group ;^d the mounting bolts for the blades on most mowers gets hard to remove because of corrosion. use wd-40 on the threads every time you pull it off to sharpen it and it should be sharpened whenever you see any tearing of the grass instead of a clean cut. this will reduce brown spotting. personally i dislike mulching blades as they are a bear to sharpen because of all the twists and turns that supposedly mulches the clippings. if you decide to buy one be ready to pay more for sharpening or buy a small angle grinder and a blade balancing cone so you can do it yourself. also your bagging attachment will not work as well or not at all. . . .no airflow from the blade. back when i was a teen i just mowed in an inward spiral pattern that threw the clippings onto uncut grass then the standard blade recut them over and over. by the time i got to the middle there was but a handful left to scatter on the new mown lawn. the surging could be moisture in the fuel dust and dirt in air cleaner or just needing a good tune up. if its moisture a tablespoon of heet will clear it up. dont let it go too long or it can damage the carburetor. budd lol sorry wrong group hi i decided to service my mower myself this year oil is easy to change but having a heck of time gettin the blade off to sharpen. cant find my manual. is there a trick to getting the blade off. ive got a honda harmony hrt about 8 years old. original blade. i was wondering if maybe after 8 years i should get buy a new blade its one of those mulching blades. also when it runs it seems to rev up and down after a few minutes does anyone know whats causing this any help greatly appreciated guess i had the right group afterall thanks budd .
