rider89 wrote i agree with you on the newbie folks pulling large rv rigs. ive seen some scary stuff. in most states would someone pulling an rv or a non commercial pickup pulling an equipment trailer be required to go through weigh stations bill not legally. if your stopped the fine will be for driving out of registration class and you will probably have to get a new registration with the higher amount or pay to have the trailer towed away. another thing to keep in mind is the gvw of the tow vehicle. if your trailer is above that as well as the registration you will get at least two tickets. talk to some of the folks who have been towing into florida. they have been finally taking the laws seriously in regard to registration and towing capacity. they have also been impounding vehicles if your vehicle is rated for more than your drivers license class is legal for. they give the vehicle back when you or someone you designate shows up with the proper class license to drive it. many states look the other way except in the case of an accident. personally i dont like the way that folks can just walk in and buy one of the huge motor coaches and drive away with it when the largest vehicle they have driven was a geo metro. or the ones who just picked up something like a 3500 dually and the new 40 foot trailer without ever towing anything before. i never have though it some states that want you to but they have bigger fish to fry than you and are after the big otr and commercail rigs not rvs -- ----------------- www.thesnoman.com .

ouch! that could have been really bad. did you get stopped for something else or did they pull you over just to see what kind of plates you had im in mo and i have 12k plates but the rig i was thinking about pulling would put me over. i only need to move the thing a few times a year so i think ill hire it out. bill i got caught in missouri towing a car with a pickup and 6000 pound plates. the fine was $1.00 a pound and i was 3100 pounds over. after pleading ignorance and buying a 12000 pound plate the judge let me go. the fact that the car has its own legal license made no difference. al .

any other ideas the transmission will drop down to 3rd gear if the fluid gets too hot - i suspect thats whats happening to your truck. or at least it thinks the fluid is getting too hot. yes i would get the fluid/filter changed should have been doing this every 24k and have them check for a plugged cooler. with a proper scan tool you can read what the computer thinks the transmission fluid temperature is and read the actual temperature via an infrared thermometer on the cooler supply line. if the two readings are vastly different the temp. sensor part of the governor pressure sensor is probably bad and would need to be changed. .

im somewhat confused about towing capacity and the license tags on light trucks. if you are towing your own rig and not for hire can you use the standard 12000 gvw plates but tow more weight it seems like some of the rv type trailers would be too large for the standard license plates. thanks bill .

as an installer i would never recommend that you do this yourself. you are looking at about a 3 hour job and they are not easy. you will have to cut the starter wire for it to split the relay as an example of part of the installation the first thing i have to ask is what type of tranny do you have in most places there are legal aspects you must consider before you install a remote start on a manual tranny. it is against the law in some states to do this. as for brands i would not recommend anything from dei. we have used them in the past and had less then a 50/50 satisfaction rate. @localhost.talkaboutautos.com partsandmore@alltel.net says... anyone have a great experience with a remote start kit and self installation please advise brand #s and details 05 dodge ram 1500 4x4 with factory keyless entry gas 5.7 hemi i wouldnt do it myself. let someone who has done tons of them do it. my 03 ram has a viper starter in it the third vehicle done at the same local place by the same guy. he never even opened the installation stuff he just did it. this time of year they really do a ton of them. if you havent dealt with the place before check them out at the bbb website. if they have been around for a while they will probably be ok anyway as word gets out quick. bdk .
