REDUCED: '01 cummins 4x4 quad cab

Q: be careful here. dodge qualifies the 7500 mile change. if for instance you take many small trips in the colder months in which the engine does not warm up completely or if you tow heavy the recommended interval is 3500. not for a cummins. schedule a the impossible light-duty schedule that most people couldnt adhere to is 15000mi intervals. schedule b for normal people is 7500mi. .

my 97 cummins pickup has had repeated air leaks at the valve stem on the drivers side front. ive wasted over half a day in 1-hour increments at the tire shop for repeated free flat repairs - with a new stem installed each time. you can remove the stem paint around it with heavy epoxy paint. wait till its about dry and put the valve stem back in. many aluminum wheels have porosity and the cure is to paint the inside. ford has some tsbs on the procedure. al .

no offense but the kelly blue book figure they gave you was more than likely the standard lowball wholesale auction value plus the price overallowance monopoly money discount off of the msrp of the new truck. this is a very common sales trick played on uninformed buyers. explanation the new truck for example might have a full sticker price of $25000 but the dealer can actually let it go for $20000 and still make enough to be happy. that $5000 difference is overallowance that the dealer can over-allow you for your old buggy. he doesnt say hes going to knock $5000 off the price of the new ride instead he says hell give you a whopping big offer for your tradein. you come away *thinking* you got a heck of a good deal. in reality you probably didnt. what matters is that youre happy! they give you 3 options of the value dealer trade in sell out right by your self and i forget the other one it was fair cause i just bought a durango saturday and by what kelly blue book shows it was right on the money .

thats the info i was looking for thanks! anybody know if dakota 8 1/4 has 1 7/16 adjustors also i want to have tool ready before i tear it apart again ugh. i replaced all the bearings in my dakota axle 2 years ago now its making some noise again mostly on a right turn. i suspect the left carrier bearing any thoughts i didnt have a adjusting. spanner or other tool or torsion bar to adj. preload properly when i did it before. what year torsion bar will fit the adjusting nut through the axle tube its a 97 8 1/4 29 spline with posi. dick i made mine out of a piece of 1/2 all thread with a nut welded on one end and a hex head pipe bushing 3/8 x welded on the other. i dont recall the size of the bushing but it fit really nice in the adjuster. then you use you torque wrench on the nut end. beekeep i have a 9 1/4 rear on my truck so some of this may vary on yours. rod was 30 long pipe bushing was a 1 1/4 with 1 7/16 hex. i welded tits on the back of 3 of points of the hex so you dont push it all the way through the adjuster. this was a substitute for tool # c-4164. torque preload was 70 ft lbs on each adjuster and a backlash of 0.006 to 0.008. you will need an inch/ounce torque wrench for the pinion preload. hope this helps. beekeep .

occasionally my washer doesnt work. i cant relate it to any condition such as cold hot been setting been running etc. any ideas where to look i would say its like an electrical circuit breakdown and with as much as ive beat on the ww lever it doesnt seem to be there. thanks in advance ld cant rightly say anything about your washer but the washer for my 03 2500 ho works best when i feed her some and keep her warm at times. of course ill have to buy her some chocklate for tomorrow or she wont be washing for some time. fmb .

on fri 11 feb 2005 211452 gmt tbone t-bonenospam@nc.rr.com wrote dry gas is just alcohol and if you follow the directions it should cause no harm. its purpose is to absorb the water in the fuel which can do more harm especially on cold days. another thing i would do is read the owners manual. if any of the engines components can be damaged by it it should be listed in the fuel section. just do not use methyl alcohol. ethyl or isopropyl are fine. heet iso is good regular heet is a no-no. methyl and water mix and turn into water that doesnt freeze- but also doesnt really burn. ethyl and isopropyl mix the water alky and gas together and get the moisture out of the system by burning it with the gas - this is what gasahol is. .
