jmc wrote its getting to be about time to replace my 4x4 dakotas stock tires. they still have a bit of tread on them but they dont grip these slick english roads well. i do have ways of getting tires out here provided i can find the type i want. the truck is a 4.7litre 4x4 club cab 2001 if that matters. i need tires that stick to wet roads well. truck is mostly used on roads sometimes bad and highways but is occassionally taken off-road as well. i dont have unlimited funds but ill dig into my pockets for good tires thatll last a while. a long time ago bfg ats i think. been out here too long! were recommended to me. i was told they were a bit noisy but were good on the road and lasted a long time. is this still a good recommendation appreciate any advice. and hello michele i was thinking i was the only gal here im a relative newbie though. a while back i replaced my stock tires with michelin ltx m/s. they are a little pricey but i expect them to last at least 60k miles maybe as long as 80k. i am very happy with them. for rain dry pavement mountains roads high speed highway muddy fire roads ice/snow you name they have been an excellent tire. i highly recommend them. -- ..bob 1997 hd fxdwg - turbocharged! 2001 dodge dakota qc 5.9/4x4/3.92 1966 mustang coupe - daily driver 1966 ffr cobra - ongoing project .

many of you have suggested i find new employment because i am unhappy with the way i am payed. could we stray any further from the truth i never said i was unhappy. i simply stated that there are too many people standing in the service department demanding an item covered under warranty when it has expired. its not the dealerships fault you never opened the warranty manual that accompanied your new vehicle. it was also suggested that dealerships want the service work as well because we are searching for deeper pockets and customer pay labor times are too high. yes and no. yes i go to work hoping customers will spend money. it might be hard to understand but this is how a business works. dont you go to work for the simple idea of making money so do i. customer pay labor times are higher than warranty for the simple reason that they are more realistic. example a complete overhaul of a 47re automatic pays approx. 9.6 hours under warranty. if i dont breathe fart take a lunch or get a drink of water i might make this time. customer pay is approx. 15 hours. it is more realistic if you want every part cleaned and inspected. can you remove rebuild including the inspection and cleaning of every part and install a diesel automatic in one day yes most times a dealership has a higher labor rate. an independant is not required to purchase thousands of dollars in special tools monthly to complete recalls and needed repairs and prevent unnecessary hammer swinging. the independant does not spend thousands of dollars a year to factory train the technicians to specialize on the vehicle you drive. not every dealership is honest and has the best trained technicians ill give you that. i still find it hard to believe that a person is smart enough and wealthy enough to finance a $45k+ vehicle that they were not educated enough to factor in maintenance and repairs into the monthly budget. if a person is concerned enough with their vehicle and how much they spent to get it to have every squeak and rattle repaired under warranty then they should be concerned enough to have their after-warranty repairs done by a specialized technician - regardless of the small cost difference. if you are happy having a five and dime quick lube service your $45k vehicle then this only shows your ignorance. you are not very concerned with their training experience or product usage. all this to literally save a couple bucks. how sad that you treat your second largest investment remember you pride yourself on reminding the service department how much you paid this way. when was the last time you walked into a quick lube and informed them of the vehicle cost before they serviced it brent master ase and gold certified chrysler technician from this post i gather that chrysler technicians are over worked and under paid. one reason that i own a toyota. .
