Pls. Help diagnose low oil pressure problem

Q: are you sure that your transmission is shifting through all the gears i have a 1991 dodge b250 van and sometimes my spedometer wont go above 40 mph no matter how fast the van is going. whenever this happens the engine starts running really hot. i dont have a tachometer but it feels and sounds like the rpms are high but i have no problem making highway speeds. its an intermittent thing and happens maybe one time out of ten that i use the van. any ideas thanks! .

there must be a story here for sure. - 1995 b3500 extended van 318 has sat for about two months and now wont start. i realized i couldnt hear the fuel pump run when i switch on the ingnition. is it likely to be the fuel pump or a relay or... any thoughts on what it might be and how to check it out as i am not very mobile right now. thanks. matt do you live in an area with rodents not sewer rats but cute pack rats and kangaroo rats. they like to hide on top of gas tanks and they chew wires and hoses. dont ask me how i know this. al .
