steve w. wrote father in law just bought a 2001 2500 2wd with the 360 in it. it has some miles on it but seems solid enough. he did ask me one question about the shift lever though. he says that you have to hunt to find drive and then if your in drive and put it into neutral it doesnt go back into drive. i havent had a chance to look it over yet but im guessing it is just a loose linkage i will be tearing into it over the weekend to do some minor repairs small crack in the dash the drop down cup holder is broken putting on a seat cover and adding some side steps so i figured id look at the shifter as well. steve w. my 99 had a small crack in the dashboard. it became several small cracks. then several large cracks. then it progressed to holes in the dashboard. i got a plastic molded dash cover from genos garage. im pleased with the product. it fits very good. it comes with a tube of glue to hold it down but i didnt put any on it. you cant tell that its a cover unless you look very closely. its only available in black but genos has interior trim paint too. http//www.genosgarage.com/prodinfo.aspnumber=dashtop-998 http//www.genosgarage.com/products.aspdept=98 -- ken .

i dont know... i was thinking i had done this before on my truck and i also was thinking the opposite of what you say - that the on-off-on- off-on procedure existed up until 2000 models or whenever they imposed obd-ii. but i may very well be mistaken. obd-ii came about in 96. i know for a fact that 98 and 99 rams did not have the ability to display the codes and that function has been available from 00 on up. i have no direct experience with a 97 dakota but would strongly suspect that it lacks that ability as well. .

ive had a 1999 dodge ram cummins for 5 years now and have noticed that whenever i pull my 25 camper in temperatures above 93 degrees f. it overheats. is this a common problem i bought the dodge so i can pull my camper in any temperatures and obviously the dodge isnt cutting in. any recommendations chevy ford have you check the thermostat .
