for all you folks whining about the 3.9s lack of power id like to report i just made a round trip from nw oh to central ky and back with a 16 foot dual axle box trailer. had no trouble making 65 empty most of the way down even used overdrive lightly in some of the flat areas. came back with industrial machinery hanging a couple feet out the back and only needed third gear on three of the stiffest climbs to maintain minimum interstate speed or better. the thing is you really need the optional 3.92 axle and drive to take advantage of it. its not quite the torque monkey that the old 258 was but it makes good enough in the 2400 rpm to 3600 range. if you bought one off the dealer lot it probably came with the 3.55 gears to satisfy epa fleet mileage and you will be less happy. .
