Q: you know along those lines the duramax for 06 is getting a substantial horsepower and torque increase. supposed to be the most powerful diesel in productions for a light duty truck. i had heard that but havent seen any figures. the 610 foot lbs. of the cummins is well up there but is nowhere its potential. actually i find it a bit of a pia when m/t have to feather the pedal or the rears will turn on dry pavement. on wet you have to be very light with it. roy .

not trying to be an ass and dont think i am being an ass about it. fair enough. you were just very quick to toss out your bible as the cause for the weather. i dont even own a bible. i just find the similarities to be rather spooky. perhaps its just a repeat of history......a cycle that repeats itself every so often......who knows. still i recognize many similarities and am only pointing them out. from the tsunami to the recent flooding and the overall break down of morality in our modern society.... -- nathan w. collier http//inlinediesel.com http//7slotgrille.com http//utilityoffroad.com http//bighornrefrigeration.com .

hi there is there any way to run a bulb test on the instrument panel of a 98 dakota. my cruise control is difficult to engage but does work but the light never activates on the instrument panel. i think it could be the bulb or the control switch. if there was a way to test the bulb i would just get another switch. also do you have to take off both screws holding the center of the steering wheel off to get to the switch connector. thanks for your help ed .

do you really think that a factory coil is even capable of putting out 50kv most are more in the range of 15kv to 20kv with the gm hei claiming 50k but that is at idle. at speeds of 3200rpm or so that voltage drops to around 28kv or less. better start reading up then. mp puts the voltage at 40kv in a run of the mill mid seventies mopar ignition system. lol yea at what rpm and even there that is a max possible voltage not the actual voltage. you do know that right in fact its long been reputed to have been better than the gm hei of the same era. another tip you might read up on is the fact that the faster the coil field is built and collapsed the more voltage you will get. hint thats why electronic switching is so much better than mechanical points switching. hahahahahahahahaha you really do make me laugh. did you view an article on the web dealing with faradays law and now think that you are an expert in reality you dont have a clue. do you even know what they mean when they are talking about the coil field speed because i dont think so. are you saying that the coil has a higher output as the engine rpm increases because that is what it sounds like and if you believe that you really are way over your head. now please explain exactly why electronic switching is so much better than mechanical switching. while there actually are reasons i doubt with what you said above that you really know what they are. the plugs were still fine when i removed them. perhaps when i said that the y could have gone another 10k or more should have tipped you off to that. why replace them if you could go further its the same logic you used when determining why the stock plugs were chosen. nope like i said you dont have a clue. since i had already bought the new ones it made little sense to put the old ones back even though they still looked ok especially with the difficulty in replacing some of them. as for the cap and rotor i had already looked at them since they are a bit easier to inspect and they both looked good. unlike many of you i dont waste money fixing what aint broke. unlike you we dont waste time waiting till it is broke to fix it. its called preventitive maintenance. its called preventive maintenance... there aint no such word as preventative! mike no its called paranoia and wasting money. if there was significant visible wear then even though the engine was running fine it would fall under the category of preventative maintenance to replace it but when there is no significant wear or visible damage then what is the point sorta like changing the oil every 1500 or 3000 miles whether it actually needs it or not. once again you accuse me of your own actions and as for making fun of me with you demonstraighted complete lack of understanding in the operations of the ignition system the only one you are making a fool out of is yourself. better check again. i did and with your bs above you still are. yeah well you categorized us as those in the group so if you dont like ht category stop making them and dumping us in them. really where did i do that or are you just desperatly reaching again i already quoted the line. if you missed it too bad. i am asking where i actually did it not one of your redefinitions of reality. please reply as im hanging on every word...... as you should be. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

okay it sounds as though you dont need an lt tire and arent too concerned about either major ruggedness or serious sand/mud traction. the question is since we dont know where you live or whether unplowed roads or icing are much involved are you better served by a second set of dedicated winter tires or an all-season compromise you may wish to check out the ratings and the decision guide on tirerack.com -- they have some interestng prospects in both those areas. cheers --joe ps. as time goes on remember that the amount of tread *remaining* as well as the original qualities and capabilities of the tire will become a significant factor in dealing with snow and other compromised-traction conditions. .

couple other questions...is there an easy way to tell which system you have without pulling things apart if theres a big square pump sitting on the drivers side fender next to the brake master cylinder with brake lines running to and from it you have 4wabs. if not and there just a slim little black box maybe 6x4x1 you have the rwal system. also...just for general maitenance purposes i want to bleed and flush the brake fluid in the system and replace it with fresh fluid...will this cause a code fault on the system that will need to be reset as long as you dont run the resevoir dry no. the problem with a 4w abs system comes when you introduce air into the pump. then you need a dealer or a shop with a drb3 scan tool to cycle the abs pump to bleed the air. .
