ask about before i drive it off the lot i was wondering about the computer needing software upgrades. i wouldnt worry about this anymore... dc has started shipping trucks without a program leaving it to the dealer to load the latest software rev. as part of the prep work. trucks come with the fluid level low in the rear axle. any thought on this this was a problem when the 03s first started arriving. i would hope theyve corrected the problem now should never have been a problem to begin with - part of the pdi checklist is to verify fluid level in the axles. lazy techs were just assuming that they had lube from the factory when in fact they didnt. still - it couldnt hurt to crawl under there and check the levels before driving it off the lot. i did on mine and found the front was good but the rear was about 1/2 quart low. .

keep your foot in it for the first 10000 miles if nothing falls off then your good for at least the next 100000 thats what i did with my 89300k and 200080 k no bad problems yet. the 2000 got a good workout in may and june about 6000 road miles with 4300# of camper in the bed and towing my toy taco with 30 cases of bud in the bed never got a wimper from that engine all i could hear was is that all you got. be glad you got the six speed though the five speed sucks. that was the only thing availble in 89 and it really has a screwry ratio compared to the 6 spd. on sun 8 aug 2004 134732 -0700 big al nospamsal1@qwest.net wrote my 2004 six speed diesel is coming in this week. any thing i should check or ask about before i drive it off the lot i was wondering about the computer needing software upgrades. its a 600 ho 4x4. someone told me some of these trucks come with the fluid level low in the rear axle. any thought on this thanks al .
