Persistent misspelling of Cummins

Q: imo the baseline 3.21 is acceptable only with the big v-8s 5.7l hemi or 360. with the 4.7l v-8 get the 3.55 and with the 3.7l v-6 insist on 3.92. i know people say the v6 + 3.21 axle is a bad choice because its a slug and is hard on the clutch... but my 97 v6 has the 3.21 axle and i actually like it. yes its a slug off the line but ive got 145000 miles on the original clutch with no detectable slippage. cant knock that. and the real benefit of this setup of course is very good low highway rpms. im a firm believer in less rpms = less wear over the course of an engines life. for my 2005 dakota i hope to achieve a final drive ratio similar to what ive got now to keep the highway rpms down. thats why im trying to find the 97 transmission ratios so i can compare numerically. the getrag has a super-low 1st gear so that should offset any hint of problem in off-the-line sluggishness. as for the availability of the getrag 6-speed... ill be getting the standard output 4.7l so thatll be ok. and hearing that it wont be available until the model year end makes sense as well... i was doing the build and price on dodges website and i couldnt find the getrag 6-speed anywhere. if it isnt available yet that would explain it. now im just wondering if the 6-speed manual will be standard equipment or if itll be a pricey option. normally the manual tranny is standard and the automatics are extra. but if i understand all of this the current standard tranny is an automatic! hmmmm... .

roy wrote okay genius here ya go. the srt 10 at $45k is 13.5-13.8 so says dc. but for the sake of this exercise lets call it 13.00. now all along ive been saying that for around or under $5k a lightning at $30k could be made quicker than the srt10. oh also be used as a truck ie pull 5klbs and ya can put 1/2 ton in the bed. how about 12.1 with a filter chip lower pulley water pump and elec. fan. and a shift kit octane boost no bottle. the guy didnt spend 3k. now i suppose youll do your usually bs prove it and your usual rant but you might want to go to www.nloc.net go to the forums scroll to times and modifications. then perhaps you will learn what a bunch of use have learned it takes a little thought and the right mods and ya can grab easily 1-2sec or more from stock.without spending a fortune if you know what the engine responds to. hi performance requires a whole new set of books tom. better start reading. now i have another a question for you tom. why cant you put a 1/2ton in the bed or tow with the srt10 without screwing the warranty it is marketed as a 1/2 ton truck isnt it or is the truck designation more marketing bs like the new hemi. maybe ford should put a bed on the gt and call it a truck too.bfg whats the matter with you roy dont you know by now that facts have no business in the world of the group troll. jerry sorry jerry i keep thinking that there might be hope. guess we will know by his reply. roy see jerry there is hope. g roy .

did a little checking around online today for other kits and found a decent 1.5 suspension leveling kit from tuff country that seems like it might be higher quality and will still allow me to swap to 265/75/r16 tires. once again this kit uses front coil spring spacers and if i need to i can get lift blocks for the rear too but not planning on it as there seems to be space for the new tires out back. this seems like it would be less of a hassle than an actual lift kit but i could still use some advice. anybody out there done this before what tools will i need is this a good kit or is it junk thanks in advance for the info. .

so basically the only problems i have heard so far is someone who used the oil in a fork lift back in 1972 i can see how being on the bleeding edge could have its drawbacks as amsoil was introduced in 1972. well i guess i can be fairly encouraged about the product from here on out. unless i get a rash of posts with people listing oil analysis and repair bills that were caused from using amsoil. thanks all for your posts and thanks bud for the detailed response you were one of the very few people that actually gave an answer based on experience. when i say very few i mean the only one! dan benedix www.howlingmotorsports.com as an aside i am in the final stages of building an electronic amsoil price book to make ordering very simple. i probably will not post the url to this group so i dont get flamed for spamming but if you are interested drop me an email ecatalog@howlinginc.com he logged the data available at that time which was rebuild records around 73 or 74 fyi. budd just curious budd did the monkey really record and analyze the multitude of data required to state no improvement budd cochran wrote fyi a factory i worked at in the 70s used amsoil in 3 of 20 gasoline powered forklifts for 6 mos running 24 / 7 with no improvement in performance economy or longevity. .

is it possible that since cummings is not a brand of vehicle like chevrolet or ford it is more a tone of color like burnt orange or midnight blue just a thought.... bolo i wasnt aware that cummins note the spelling ;- had an official color... and if it does it should be changed to the only color youll ever need... lol over a period of time there have been frequent misspellings of the word cummins cummings in posts and protests from the insulted. a few days ago i noticed a similar misspelling in the marketplace. i was in a tractor supply store looking for a can of spray paint. on the shelf there was a section for engine paints. right beside the chevrolet orange and ford blue was a section with cummings gray. paul johnson .
