Parking Brake Assembly for 95 Dakota

Q: the parking brake assembly basically fell apart on my 95 dakota. i have it removed except for the cable which seems to be permanently connected at the entrance point. it must come off somehow but i dont see an easy way. any suggestions appreciated. thanks al arold al green .
