Paint maintenance questions.

From : jmc

Q: jodicheck out this link. these are about the best products that ive found. http//www.meguiars.com/storemeguiars/index.cfm but i gotta tell ya you dont type like you talk funny. vbg denny im just full of questions this week actually found time and enough dry air to wash and wax the truck yesterday winter in england is long days of moderate cold and depressing drippy days. im noticing that theres a lot of inclusions in my paint which i previously removed with a kind of clay. it worked really well. so well my current clay is rather jaggy and will probably scratch if i try to use it again. first question is clay the best way for me to remove the inclusions or is there something better i did buy a german-made liquid wax called mer i think which said itd pull that stuff out but only pulled something less than half of what i can feel. im not sure i like it. since i spent all that time washing/waxing it of course is misty today and the mer isnt beading up properly. if itd stop misting for a bit id try another coat... second question if clay is the best way whats a recommended brand and where can i get it im going back to the us on a business trip this spring and this is on my list of things to buy. third question what do you consider to be a high-quality wax that can help protect my truck from this rather hostile environment even if i was to wash it every day itd be constantly dirty. they grit here nearly every night in the winter because if its actually clear at night it frosts so hard the roads are icy. so even on dry days the roads can be damp and throw up grit which does have salt. and on wet days the roads are wet and throw up grit and mud. jodi longing for spring. or snow. anything but this depressing british drizze. .

i have a 2000 3/4 ton cummins that doesnt like to cold start...it will crank for 8-10 seconds before it fires... when it finally starts it runs perfectly normal. the funny thing is that if it is plugged in when its still warm it starts fine the next day. if i set the timer on the block heater to start about 5 or 6 hours before starting it it does this long cranking deal it cranks over normally just doesnt fire. last week we had a warm spell here alberta ca and even at 10 degrees c or so it did the same thing... the dealership has tried 3 or 4 times to fix it but cant find anything no leaking fuel lines letting air in or anything. -ive also been using fuel conditioner fairly regularly... anyone have any ideas thanks... .

no.spam@no.junk.mail.net says... 1800 sounds a little light for a yard of damp topsoil more like 2300 or even more. id say you where a tad overloaded. yeah i think youre right. it seems to have made it okay luckily the place is only a half mile from my house. after rigorous scientific testing consisting of jumping up and down on the bumper i did put new shocks on this saturday. it definitely needed them. made a huge difference in ride. the ass end still sags when full of dirt but hey i am way overloading the thing and thats more of a spring issue isnt it i would just do a half yard at a time but they charge more for halfs. only need one more trip though so i think itll hold up if i take it slow. dunno on the dak but on the 1500 there is a larger trany cooler 355s instead of 392s and i think there is a heavier alternator or at least a higher rated battery. could be both. plus the harness for the brake controller. that seems to be the consensus. it sounds like the heavy duty brakes mentioned on the glovebox sticker are a separate option. thanks. -- jason g gays have eroded the right to marriage so much that its just about ruined for us straights. every time they get married they use up a little bit of our collective ability to get married. when they go having that gay sex theyre using up sex too! somebody stop them! --waldo jaquith . 222 297403 246af0a03b6d2d36cb45a0fa7abe7c17@localhost.talkaboutautos.com checked with the driver bruce and they said the tach was fine. going to have to wait until the truck arrives to check out dicks suggestions. sure appreciate the advice and will let you know how it turns out. thanks again! .

here we go again with cuda. an independent that wants every one to believe their repairs are automatically cheaper than a dealers. again he provided no proof or example of this. just assumed. perhaps a dealers equivalent repair may cost more because they provide things you can not. when our dealership services a transmission for x number of dollars we also update the controller with the latest software at no added cost our extra cost is from the use of oem parts that come with a nationwide warranty at any dealer to improve shift quality if any updates are available. ooops - you cant do that. this is one example try using an example to substantiate a claim next time instead of talking out your ass of how a dealer can offer more bang for the buck when it comes to quality. times have changed since you last worked in a dealership if you ever have. if you havent done it in the last five years you are behind the times. dealer techs do provide a vast portion of feedback to dc before they release it in a tsb. you have no right to argue against this point. i have seen dozens of times when my or other techs repairs have later resulted in tsbs and/or recalls. you might pay for tsbs - we make them happen. who is the real technician now there is one problem with being an independent; win or lose - the dealer gets automatic first shot at the customer you get the left overs. with warranties increasing and enticing customers to purchase new vehicles we have another thing you do not guaranteed work during slow times. it may not pay the best but it sure beats plopping my ass on the tool box drinking a soda - like im sure you have had to. brent master ase and gold certified chrysler technician .

mike simmons wrote jodi clay is a very good method to remove contaminants from your paint. much better in fact than a cleaner type wax which sounds like mer is. a normal size clay bar is good for approximately 8-10 treatments and then is so full of contaminants that it can begin to gougethepaint. whats a normal size clay bar my clay filled up after two or three treatments but i think its smaller than the 8oz sold at griots. also the first use had to clean up quite a bit of crap i didnt learn about using clay till id had the truck for a year or more. by far the best place to get car care products is griots garage. their website is www.griotsgarage.com although their stuff is a wee bit pricey its good. im wandering over there now thanks for the tip i use their best of show wax and wax my ram every three months. i have used at one time or another most all their products and they are superior in every way. if they wont ship to gb let me know and i can help. they do ship apo asking for a quote on the speed shine/clay combo. thanks for the offer tho! jodi mike first question is clay the best way for me to remove the inclusions or is there something better second question if clay is the best way whats a recommended brand and where can i get it im going back to the us on a business trip this spring and this is on my list of things to buy. third question what do you consider to be a high-quality wax that can help protect my truck from this rather hostile environment .

john robertson johndanielrobertson@cox-internet.com wrote in message i have been reading a couple of your posts about dealership and shit all i can say is that my hat is off to the dealership mechanics most of the time they do receive great training and are very helpful. i have never had warranty work mainly because i keep my truck maintained. i did take my older dakota to get the transmission overhauled it was costly but the truck ran great and is still lasting. i dont care to pay the money as long as it for good quality work. keep up the good work brent. john in a simple nutshell i will try to explain the antics of a dealership service department. i can not explain poor dealerships with questionable techncians this is for you to determine. i simply hope my explanation helps you understand why a dealer does what it does. a dealer is monitored by the manufacturer as to how many repairs it does. if a dealer does one particular repair more than other dealers of the same size and zone then a restriction is placed on them for that repair. this is not right but it happens. this can result in a service manager instructing their technicians not to recognize that particular problem to eliminate the restrictions. i would hope that any dealer would ignore these restrictions if the repairs pertained to safety. as many have suggested a dealer will not recognize a problem with the vehicle until it is out of warranty. now you know why. your problem is with chrysler not the dealer. as for an independant repair shop charging less; bullcrap. as a customer you simply picked up the phone and found a shop that charges less per hour. what sense does it make if an independant charges less per hour but charges you more hours because they are not familiar with the vehicle flat rate is a guideline - not a law. a dealership may charge more per hour but charge less hours since they can diagnose the vehicle quicker. this is easy to understand since they are more familiar with that vehicle and its common fallacies. this also does not account for the thousands of dollars per month that a dealer spends on special tools to peform the repairs quicker and more precisely. one individual suggested they had been in a dealer and saw a large amount of dust on the special tools. he could not be more correct. not every tool is used every day what tools are used is determined by the failure rate of specific vehicles. perhaps this individual should spend more attention on their shop than the dealers. one thing to remember is this; unlike an independent a dealer has the right to not use a special tool because at least they have it if they need it. brent master ase and gold certified chrysler technician john....even that is being takin away we used to be able to sign up for any class that we felt we needed training with.. how long has the pacifica been out the 300c i have not since been to those classes. now you get a car in on a wait basis with a problem and watch the customer yell because they have to wait so long for us not only to figure the system out but then to diagnios it and all that..... brent why did you get me started!!!!! glenn beasley chrysler tech glenn you can get into most any class quickly however your sm has to be proactive. he needs to put you on an interest list on dealer connect for the classes you want. then he needs to monitor dmail daily and wait for the class to pop up and then he needs to enroll you immediately as soon as the class becomes available. its a pita but its the only way i know to get your techs in on the new classes. they have changed certification requirements for 05 so your sm may have more of an incentive now to make sure that he has at least one tech qualified in each skill area. mike chryco service manager member sae mike if it is true that techs are told not to recognize certain problems hats off to glenn cause he cant be blinded how do i get the service i expect from a dealers shop they fixed a leaky valve cover gasket leaking again now and those plugs on the passenger side above the exhaust ports about 16 months ago. im about to put it in the shop again for the valve cover gasket again. im sure they will recognize that. it needs to be repaired warrantee or not. the 03 ho doesnt have the pep it once had just under 60k on it. is this normal or should it be checked out if it is checked out how do i know wether or not they will recognize any problem it is a trust issue i believe. do i straight out ask him if it is on the non-recognition list -- fm only one b in fmb normally by connecting the drb to the vehicle you can tell if there is a fuel consumption /lack of power problem by looking at the adaptive memory/ fuel cells..and then again the obd2 system will normally thru out a fault if there is a problem and set the engine l

either the engine surface or the pump mounting surface are not machined flat. that can put a lot of stress on the bolts causing them to shear. either replace the pump or try putting some soft paper gasketing in between the pump and engine mounting surfaces. also if someone has left a stabilizing bracket off ... look at an engine blowup and see if thats the case. if the pump is trying to put out too much pressure the bypass circuit is defective there will be greater than normal pressure on the mounts too. hi all had a 98 dakota that had 200000 miles on it that i loved. needed a catalytic converter + to get thru state inspection so decided to trade it. bought another dakota an 04 with a 3.7 liter. would be happy with the truck if a could get this one problem figured out. after 12000 miles the bolts holding the power steering unit to the engine block snapped. got truck to the dealership and they thought maybe the bolts had been over torqued so basically they just fished the broken pieces out of the engine block and put in new bolts. 10000 miles later the bolts snap again. dont believe dealership has any idea whats going on. anyone out there had similar experience or some idea whats happening are these just aluminum bolts can i get better bolts is the engine block aluminum which would make steel bolts unwise tia cal .
