P1693 error code
From : andy
Q: second try dont think the server liked the first one i had the malfunction lamp come on in my 01 ram diesel again this evening on the ride home. i got the codes p1693 and p1765 out of the odo with the ignition 3 times trick. ive looked up the codes in my service manual and know where the p1765 is coming from and would almost expect it. i put a jumper in the relay that code refers to as part of the install of my bd torqloc unit and no problems resulting from it. the other code p1693 has two entries and looks up as dtc detected in companion module and dtc detected in pcm/ecm or dtc detected in ecm this code and has come and gone serveral times along with a third that escapes me at the moment. can somebody explain what in the world this code means and how i can even begin tracking down the problem usually there is no change in performance. the only odd thing that has happened even close within a few days of seeing this code has been a spuratic lose of power but that hasnt happened in months. any ideas andy .

the connector youre talking about doesnt ring a bell with me but i know i have a large multi-wire connector for the computer on the drivers side of the engine behind the fuel filter. i did have to remove this plug once to add a wire and connector for my exhaust brake. ill remove it again and check it for dirt etc. and re-seat the connector. worth a try. thanks. andy ive had some problems with my 99 diesel. it was popping unusual maintenance codes and the 5* dealer that i went to couldnt duplicate the problem even when i gave them my truck idling in their service bay with the check engine light on. what i finally did after several trips to the dodge garage was re-seat the pcm bulkhead connector on the passenger side of the firewall. i just grabbed the wire bundle and wiggled it up and down while applying pressure towards the firewall. i havent had any trouble since i did that 2 years ago. it might not solve your problem but it worked for me. .
