Oxygen sensors
From : glenn woodell
Q: the oxygen sensor on my 07 dakota 4.7 just gave an error resulting in my engine light coming on. i found out that a new sensor is between $65 and $144 depending on what type i need and where i get it. also it looks like i might need two of them. i have 43000 miles on this motor. is this something that i am likely to have to replace every two to three years are they easy to change any good sources for one/two glenn .

i got 95k mi on my first one in 93 - 5.2. however the replacement bosch unit tends to go on the blink if its left to sit around for 3 days not being started. seems to run rich after reving the engine to 4000 rpm no load for 15-20 sec clears it up. local mech says he sees this alot on bosch o2 sensors and dodges. drive it every day and never will happen. i suspect maybe its not getting hot enough running only 180f thermostat. fyi jer on tue 21 oct 2003 022722 gmt letsrig@c+o+x.net glenn woodell wrote the oxygen sensor on my 07 dakota 4.7 just gave an error resulting in my engine light coming on. i found out that a new sensor is between $65 and $144 depending on what type i need and where i get it. also it looks like i might need two of them. i have 43000 miles on this motor. is this something that i am likely to have to replace every two to three years are they easy to change any good sources for one/two glenn .

isnt the o2 sensor covered under the federal emissions warranty up to 70 or 80k miles the resultant cost could be $65 to $144 cheaper in 2003 dollars. the oxygen sensor on my 07 dakota 4.7 just gave an error resulting in my engine light coming on. i found out that a new sensor is between $65 and $144 depending on what type i need and where i get it. also it looks like i might need two of them. i have 43000 miles on this motor. is this something that i am likely to have to replace every two to three years are they easy to change any good sources for one/two glenn .
