Out of Storage Problem 99 Quad Cab

From : fearless fredfmb

Q: thanks tom ill keep you posted. steve i know it isnt much but it is all i had at the moment. it is my vehicle and it died friday while negotiating a traffic circle at low speed. okay. well i think you know the answer here... your lift pumps dead... probably burned out the motor. the cp3 is capable of sucking its own fuel as it does in the duramax application but that lift pumps a big ol restriction so im surprised it even ran at all. fortunately the cp3s a whole lot tougher than the vp44 so im sure its fine. youre just going to need a new lift pump which should hopefully be covered under warranty unless they try and duck out of a legitimate warranty repair because of the aftermarket stuff youve got. and if they do the repair either under warranty or not - but i would strongly recommend doing it yourself if they wont warranty it and you dont feel like fighting them for it - theyll wind up charging you 2-3 times what a fass would cost you theyre going to change you over to the in-tank pump. now the good about that is it retains your stock fuel filter/fuel heater and makes the installation of an aftermarket pump that much easier since youll already

id bet money on the egr valve being clogged open....had it happen and the symptoms were identical to yours!! id bet money against it as the 99s didnt have egr. vacuum leaks vacuum leak will cause a high idle on a fuel injected vehicle. .

is putting out these days.....and if i dont like the new f350 ill search for another dodge dealer. one thing is for sure i wont spend another dime at lithia dodge. been there done that... i find that you can always find another dealer wholl meet the deal! the fact that one dealer is *stupid* is not surprising since most are. remember car salesmen are rated just above lawyers for ethics iirc! i dumped my local dodge/jeep dealer a year ago. why they putzed up a warranty repair that required they order parts. then they forgot to order parts and when i reminded them it was oh your warranty has expired too bad... my response was to agree with that it was too bad. then i left have not been back since. one day a month or so ago some *idiot* from the dealership was stupid enough to call me! did i ever tell him why i wasnt back to look at new trucks! then i suggested that hed best take my name off their phone-spam list as id probably not be nearly as nice g as i was with him... .

what are other possibilities causes the clutch to engauge for 3 seconds and stop if the refrigerant is normal level thats just it... your pressure is still low. when youre as low on refrigerant as you are you usually have to jump the low-pressure cutoff switch to get enough run time from the compressor to suck in the charge. pull the electrical connector off of the accumulator and jumper the two terminals on the connector not the switch itself to each other short piece of wire paper clip etc.. the real question is... what caused you to lose so much refrigerant in the first place unless you fix the root cause youre going to be back at this again - probably sooner rather than later. .

is the 2008 cummins/ram dpf re-gen fuel added post injection in the cylinder or is there a separate injector in the exhaust i couldnt find any real info at cummins.com. i have a cummins quickserve account but i can only access manuals for my 99 isb. hemi truck club pulled the plug on their fsm downloads and the newest one i have is 2006. -- ken .

beekeep wrote thats the initial cost! then theres the engine replacement etc. because the bozos phucked up. saw that at my dealership. a new ctd ram with only 7000 miles on it was in the shop with a scrapped engine. the owner had it changed at some quick lube joint and the filter disintegrated internally causing a blockage. wouldnt a clogged filter cause a low oil pressure warning or is the sender prior to the filter .

1999 dodge ram 318 will not idle. if i keep rpms above about 1000 it runs fine. below that and the engine dies. any thoughts thanks most likely problem is a dirty throttle body or a bad iac motor. clean the throttle body and go from there. .
