From : commctr1

Q: i have a 1998 dodge 2500 w/5.9l cummins. heres the problem. i can not find the proper fuel filter. this is the 24 valve motor however it has the metal cassiter type filter that you remove from the bottom. loosen the bolt on top and the cassiter drops down you remove the old filter. pretty simple right! well try to find the correct filter. all the filters listed at local parts stores have a lip on them and they do not fit this truck. it was manufactured in 5/98. ive tried pep boys napa autozone no one has the proper filter. any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!! email direct pottsladd13@yahoo.com .

pretty simple right! well try to find the correct filter. all the filters listed at local parts stores have a lip on them and they do not fit this truck. it was manufactured in 5/98. you want a fleetguard fs19598 filter. you can get them from the dealer but youll pay a hefty premium. as another poster stated genos garage is a great source for all your routine maintenance items except oil of course. buy a few at a time to save on shipping costs http//216.167.41.9/coastaldata/showdetl.cfm&did=30&productid=216&catid=1 and heres another link with the procedure for changing it out http//www.dodgeram.org/tech/dsl/filter/99fuelfilter.htm .
