From : ralph
Q: im hoping you folks can increase my knowledge base before i take my ram to the shop. heres the symptom after slowing down to idle my oil pressure light comes on however the gauge still reads nominal. the gauge seems to be working as it will indicate half a needle width left of 40 at idle 600rpm and just to the right of 40 during normal operation and of course zero when off. fluid level is good and i cant locate any loose wires vacuum hoses etc. all i need to to do is bring up the rpms a tad and it goes off. the truck has 107k miles on it and its a 96 5.2 ec laramie slt. any comments would be appreciated even some of the funny smart ass ones ive been reading lately ;^ thanx ralph .

had the exact same problem on my 91 diesel. just the slightest pressure on the accelerator was enough to extinguish the light. dodge just replaced the sender and it hasnt acted up since. i was sure worried when it first happened though .... i had previously installed the dodge hand throttle and although it is useless for what its supposed to do - it was enough to keep the light off. anybody know where a better hand throttle system can be purchased the crappola dodge one just worked on lever action under the accelerator pedal and id rather find one that actually links up to the throttle linkage under the hood. this old beast turns into a fridge when youre in city traffic in the winter but is a sauna at highway speeds. anyone else have the same problem if this damn thing didnt still get 31 mpg id tradeer in ....... garnet on mon 10 nov 2003 073847 gmt ralph dmaft@comcast.net wrote im hoping you folks can increase my knowledge base before i take my ram to the shop. heres the symptom after slowing down to idle my oil pressure light comes on however the gauge still reads nominal. the gauge seems to be working as it will indicate half a needle width left of 40 at idle 600rpm and just to the right of 40 during normal operation and of course zero when off. fluid level is good and i cant locate any loose wires vacuum hoses etc. all i need to to do is bring up the rpms a tad and it goes off. the truck has 107k miles on it and its a 96 5.2 ec laramie slt. any comments would be appreciated even some of the funny smart ass ones ive been reading lately ;^ thanx ralph .
