Oil change tips for 04 cummings
From : Annonymous
Q: i just changed my oil at 898 miles. i am a firm believer of changing at around 1000 miles then 3500 miles then switch to synthetic at 7500 miles. i was going to put synthetic in the rear axel but the dealer told me to wait until the 15000 mile mark. i think ill change it at 5000. p.s. i love the truck! it pulls heavy loads just fine. i have the 410 axel. .

some imho you are just wasting money with those early oil changes. i first changed the oil in my 03 cummins its cummins btw at 7500 miles per the factory maintenance schedule and the oil analysis from blackstone indicated no abnormal contaminants/metals that would cause undue wear. the additive package in the oil was still quite active at 7500 as well. if you are considering a switchover to synthetic oil be aware that cummins doesnt recommend doing this until about 20k miles to allow the engine to wear in properly. but again its your truck and your money. as far as the axle its axle btw fluid again imho you are just wasting money as the factory maintenance schedule doesnt call for this to be done until 15k. chryco service manager member sae i just changed my oil at 898 miles. i am a firm believer of changing at around 1000 miles then 3500 miles then switch to synthetic at 7500 miles. i was going to put synthetic in the rear axel but the dealer told me to wait until the 15000 mile mark. i think ill change it at 5000. p.s. i love the truck! it pulls heavy loads just fine. i have the 410 axel. .

my son has hit a large pot hole in the road of life. he has a 1951 dodge 1/2 ton pick-up apart and now he cant finish the restoration. it has 75k and all the original parts. plus a new carb and some other stuff. any one know someone that might be interested or can any one direct me to a group or site that might help him connect with someone that can enjoy this truck if you do email me. .
