i have a 94 dodge ram 1500 5.2l magnum that just rolled past 200000 miles earlier this month and although it still runs well it is showing its age and the engine feels a little tired. the truck is paid for and insurance is cheap so instead of buying a new truck however i would like to fix this one up. i have an 89 318 out of a b250 van sitting in my garage that i would like to rebuild and swap the top endheads intake etc. and fuel injection system from my truck onto so that i can put it in the truck. i would like to stroke it during the build to get more cubes and more torque for towing but most of the stroker kits i have found include expensive forged pistons and are over $1000. i plan to keep the compression fairly low and this engine will not see much abuse or high rpm use so cast pistons should be okay and would be prefferable due to my limited budget. does anyone know of a stroker crank that can be used with stock type cast 318 pistons and rods maybe a 360 crank with the mains turned down also does anyone know of a good aftermarket cam kit for this build thanks for your advice! .

ah the liberal un peacekeepers in inaction again . . . the un sent peacekeepers who promptly looked away took bribes and generally did nothing and you are surprised maybe you should try fox they reported this moths ago. budd a couple of days ago there was talk about how we should or shouldnt be in iraq. anyway somebody and i i apologize cause i dont remember who were going back and forth about the amount of deaths that was visited upon the civilians by saddam. as to why we should stop him. i was watching discovery about two nuns who were put on trial for crimes against humanity in belgium for their actions in rwanda. a few things jumped out. evidence showed that the catholic church tried to derail the whole trial. but heres the part that got me that makes saddam a rank rookie when it came to mass murder. this was one tribe against another ethnic cleansing in the fast lane. in a period of 90 days over 1 million members of the tutsi were killed. documentation showed that in one 8 hour period over 65000 were killed. bear in mind that most of this was done mostly with machetes not machine guns. that is unbelievable. i read some years ago that there was a war going on but wasnt aware of this. im friggn well amazed at the numbers! these figures are crazy. no outside action by the un by the us nobody. actually the un pulled out then after a period of time talked about going back. this im sure doesnt matter in our discussions but the figures just blew me away. roy -- posted via a free usenet account from http//www.tera.com .

communications with security service tribunal in 1999 i took some more potshots at the ss-tribunal in the first half of 1999. the correspondence between myself and the tribunal secretary is detailed on this webpage. ultimately i decided not to pursue another complaint with them partly from robin ramsays advice and that of a solicitor i consulted but mostly because it was rather obvious from mr brooks replies that the tribunal has no investigative means of its own and is that useless animal a toothless watchdog. included with this first letter was a copy of the leaflet complaints about the security service. this tells you that the tribunal can order the service to end its inquiries about you; the service to destroy any records it holds about those inquiries; the quashing of a property warrant; financial compensation. yeah right. look theres a flying pig oink-flap oink-flap. my subsequent letter to nick brooks tribunal secretary dated 25 march 1999 said; dear mr brooks we spoke on the phone last week and you kindly sent a copy of the form complaints about the security service. i have a few questions which i should like to ask you before i undertake the task of making a formal complaint. as you know i made a complaint in february 1997 and in june of that year the tribunal made a bland and unsatisfactory statement that no determination in your favour has been made on your complaint. during our phone conversation i expressed the view that the tribunal was incapable of performing its functions and acts as a whitewashing body for the security service. my questions are as follows; 1has the security service tribunal ever during its existence found in favour of a compaint against mi5 2is the tribunal able to disclose whether no determination in your favour is made because mi5 claims to have no inquiries on a subject or whether it is made because mi5 admits to actions against a subject but claims justification if disclosure is not possible for individual cases then in 1997 for how many cases out of what total did mi5 claim justification 3is the tribunal able to investigate information such as british airways passenger lists given that these could conclusively prove mi5 involvement would the tribunal be forced to rely on mi5 to carry out such investigations or would it have some other means of investigating it might look slightly ridiculous for the tribunal to rely on mi5 to investigate their own misdeeds. when i made my previous complaint to the tribunal in 1997 i gave very little information as to the nature of my complaint. this time i intend to give as complete information as possible; but before i do so i would ask you to answer the questions above to outline the ground rules for a tribunal investigation and reporting of its results. yours sincerely mr brooks replied by sending me a photocopy of two pages from the 1997 report of the security service commissioner as follows. the photocopied pages from the 1997 report follow. in particular the answers the report gives to my questions are; the security service tribunal has never found in favour of a complainant; see sections 29 and 31 of the scanned report. nick brooks has confirmed orally over the phone that he has no memory of the tribunal ever finding in favour of a complainant. secondly the question of whether the tribunal is able to disclose no determination in your favour is because mi5 claims to have no inquiries on a subject or whether its because mi5 admits to having inquiries but claims they are justified. the answer to this one is in section 24 which says the ambiguity is intentional; and the tribunal will in no circumstances give an unambiguous answer of whether mi5 claims or disclaims inquiries on a subject. in section 27 of the report ss commissioner lord justice stuart-smith says the blanket denials might lead some to speculate that members of the service are carrying out operations involving unlawful interference with property such as the installation of eavesdropping equipment without first obtaining a warrant from the home secretary. he goes on to try to deny this speculation. but weve heard from peter wright that this went on all the time in the 1960s. so why wouldnt it still be happening now of course it is. the tribunal secretary had avoided answering the question from my previous letter of whether the tribunal had any independent investigative capacity. so i asked him again. dear mr brooks thank you for your letter dated 6 april enclosing an extract of the 1997 report of the security service commissioner. this answers two of the three questions asked in my letter of 25 march. the third question remains. in 1993 i travelled on a british airways flight on which there also travelled four men one of whom stared at me laughed and said if he tries to run away well find him. i took this to mean that these were the men who had been pursuing me for some time

when i got off work this morning i checked the oil before i started the truck. it was at least a quart overfull. its going back this afternoon to have it drained. and to request a refund for the quart of oil i bought i didnt need. thanks to all who responded! ed dowdy fithian il new. i changed the oil at 1500 miles. i read the manual first to see what type and quanity. book said 6 qts with filter. my dipstick showed it was over full. i called a few dodge people and decided i had the wrong dipstick. they ordered 2 more that wasnt correct either. i finally just filed a notch at the full mark and the add one quart low mark. so good luck! - hank .

hi electronic engine control wizard please help!! i am having a hard time figure out whats wrong with my 1999 dodge ram with quad cab short bed 1500 4x4 with a 5.2l 318 engine and automatic tranny. my truck would not restart after shutting it off when hot. it cranks but engine doesnt start. it used to take about 30 minutes of cool down before it would run again and now it would take an hour! i already figured out that the pcm is not switching ignition coil circuit on and off causing no spark out of the coil. crank and cam sensor tested ok using a multimeter. guages and tach would not move when it wouldnt start gas and volt guage stays in same postion as when off without moving to correct reading when key is turned on tach doesnt move at all as normally does while cranking. sometimes speedometer says no bus when key is first turned on. after cool down peroid guages finally will show correcting readingsand it will start! just right before trying to fix above no start condition the tranny was acting up. sometimes it would be stuck in 1st gear for all day or in limp mode for all day. it had following codes p1757 p1763 and p1762. after some diagnose work it looked like a pcm is bad after trying new tranny gov press sensor and solonid along with new tranny filter and fluid. above no start condition started shortly after replacing the pcm. the tranny still acted up. now it is acting worst. it is running super rich and idles up and down cold or hot. current codes is as following po122 po117 po107 po112 p1296 and p1764. all codes are similar signal voltage too low. following flow charts carefully pcm is assumed to be defective. i back probed pcm connectors and input singal from all above sensors for the codes are operating correctly. yet my scanner tool shows incorrect reading for sensors. while i wait for your help i will try cleaning pcm ground system do more wire wiggle test and even maybe put in old pcm back in and see if codes are same. seems like sensor voltages which shows incorrect readings on scanner tool change when i bang on the truck espically interior driver area. wires under steering colum looked ok. please help! thanks! .

scott wrote my 92 ram 5.2l holds about 6.5 quarts of oil. my 98 5.2l takes 5 qts oil. ive always put that much in it even with a filter change. manual says so. same engine isnt it why the difference also... i replaced my 5.2l this year only 150k miles with a jaspar remanufactured engine about 10k miles ago. while i notice a lot more power than my tired old engine the gas mileage really has fallen off with the new engine. old original 5.2 got a steady 16 mpg up to my max 17.8 if driving at 62-65 on the highway. the new one has barely gotten into the 14s max 14.8 mpg so far with 13 mpg fairly standard never yet below 13 mpg. is it just expected that the remanufacturing process isnt going to produce as tight an engine as brand new is there any hope that mileage might improve after 10k miles now i dont think it will ever get any better. smh .

hi folks i have a 94 fwd cummins turbo diesel with a little over 280000 miles. it started out as my personal vehicle then became a company truck for a business that i own and it has come back to me in its old age. it runs pretty well but it occasionally blows oil - apparently out of a breather in the engine compartment which - among other things - makes a mess under the hood. i took it to the dealer a little over a year ago. whoever they had look at it didnt even roll it into the shop. he opened the hood looked at the engine looked at the mileage and proclaimed the engine toast. they would be happy to sell me a replacement engine for 12 grand or so. since the vehicle books out at maybe half of that i declined. since then ive used it around town and to haul water and do odd chores. because i like the dammed thing i would like to fix it up it needs a fair amount of cosmetic work - and the paint is history but the condition of the engine is a problem. how long should these engines be expected to last given fairly regular oil changes and maintenance it runs ok but seems to be pumping out oil. somehow i expected the diesel to last longer but i may have been expecting too much. are there other things besides rings or whatever that could be pressurizing the crankcase a heavy equipment mechanic i know suggested that the catalytic converter might be clogged. suggestions observations are appreciated. thanks a lot a 94 doesnt have a cat. well mine didnt anyway. could your breather hose be restricted or crimped. you should if it has been taken care of have a bunch of miles left. you might want to take it to the nearest cummins dealer have them take a look toss it on their dyno and see whats what. cummins dealer not a dodge dealer. roy jim hall 520 exc 950 lc8 adventure turning money into noise... .

i got a 98 dakota with the 3.9l pushing 154000 miles. never had any problems with the tranny or engine. runs and drives great. also got a 92 ram with the 5.2l with 123000 miles. looks runs and drives great!! m.balarama wrote was thinking of selling my caravan 1999-has 91000 miles--rear main gasket went out-replaced it $350...was nervous the the tranny might go-- if it would go to 150000 i would keep it. change oil every 3000 miles-runs great... michael .
