Q: i have 1992 dodge b250 with a 318 in it. the shop manual states that a dbr ii can be connected to the diagnostic connector adjacent to the engine controller and monitor/verify the state of various sensors. the problem i am having is that the auto parts stores only seem to be carrying obd i and ii testers but not dbr ii testers. to the best of my knowledge the odb series is for vehicles from 1996 and on. since mine is a 1992 it would not appear to be of any use to me. i am trying to find a dbr ii to use on my van. what preference would be a software package that i could load on to my laptop and use a cable from my usb port out to the diagnostic connector on the truck. can anyone help me out here thanks... bob .

ramman@dodgecity.cc wrote using agricultural non-taxed fuel i.e. red fuel in an over-the-road non-agricultural vehicle is a serious matter. if you get caught expect a visit from us treasury agents armed with an arrest warrant for tax fraud. if youre prosecuted a $10k fine for such monkey business is not unusual. kbrennan@wi.rr.com writes the problem is if you have any red dye fuel in your tank any tank while on a public road. the only ones that get away with it are farm vehicles that are not registered for road use and only travel on roads when going from field to field you know the ones that you get stuck behind and cuss at when trying to make time on a country road. ken gene wrote around here the logging contractors are a target for random stops on sr66. it seems pickups with an off road fuel tank in the back get checked now & then. i know of one contractor who got hit for 10 grand... ten grand! ouch!!! i wonder. in my old 1971 f250 it had two gas tanks and a switch under the dash. could i fill one with offroad fuel and one with onroad fuel then switch back and forth as i travel on road and offroad say i worked on a farm and had a farm truck and stayed on my farm 90% of the time and only went into town in that truck once a week. i dont want to be buring road gas if i dont have to. you will not like it if you take it in for drivability problems to the dealer either. the dealer has to call their technical assistance to get a injection pump ordered. the first question theu ask is is the fuel the correct fuel for the truck if you use offroad diesel it will void the warranty on the enigine and fuel system. .

whichever one the computer feels like giving it to. another lame answer from tbone 2005 ram 1500 awd can anyone explain how this system works which wheels get the most power etc. ill explain it however i checked to see if it actually exists as an option and i cannot confirm on dodges official site or kelly blue book site that an awd option is available. in 4wd part time the transfer case is locked so both driveshafts turn as one. this causes a hopping sort of characteristic around a corner. in 4wd full time the transfer case is not locked because a differential allows the two driveshafts to turn at different speeds if need be such as around corners. in awd there are clutches in the transfer case that allow power to be directed to either axle as traction dictates. this is generally controlled by a computer although there are some mechanical systems out there. the computer senses traction at all four wheels and adjusts the clutches to power the axle that is not slipping. all of the above systems are limited by the axle configuration. if the axles have open differentials and one tire on each axle is spinning you will be stuck regardless of the drive system. on a 1500 or 1/2 ton truck i think the awd is a useless option since the weight of the drivetrain will kill mpg all the time. a full time position on the transfer case will get you the same ability 4wd all the time without complex computer control which may or may not act predictably depends on system design or loss of mpg when you dont need 4wd. ultimately you should check to be sure that awd is really available should you decide its what you want. max life liberty and the pursuit of any jackass that threatens it. embellished usnavy slogan .

so... ford is a company that is yet to make a decent car. maybe the orginal mustangs are an exception. every ford i have driven has had serious problems and the dealership garage costs a fortune to buy expensive ford parts. i stay away from fords. there new lineup is something that probably wont make their financial situation any better. as they build cars that have very popular competitorsfreestyle there company is not doing very well. the five hundred is not as good as the chrysler 300 through a motor trend test. the mustang wont sell as well as the orginal mustang as they anticipated. -justin .
