ive never had to use any but some of the other guys might know a better way than i do. i double check my manual. guys budd mr-d150@citlinkspam.net budd cochran wrote check the bearing conditions on both sides if its been over 25000 miles since last service. you may have a worn dry or too tight bearing on drivers side. -- budd are any special tools needed to pull the old bearings replace them and retork all the stuff td .

that might not be enough you might try 10-12 btdc and run at least 89 octane fuel. to check your mechanical advance twist the rotor gently counter clockwise till it stops and release. it should snap right back to the original position. to check vacuum advance its best to have about 17 in of vacuum applied to the vacuum diaphragm hold it for a few seconds to test the diaphragm then release to see it moves freely back. distributor troubles can often act like a bad carb. budd timing is 8 deg. btdc. i believe and both advances seem to work. what is the ignition timing set at are the mechanical and vacuum advances working properly budd same vehicle guys 64 travco rv. 318 with a can you believe 2 barrel carb. it idles fine but go to step on the gas either in park or any drive gear and its like you just grabbed it by the throat and chocked the living **** out of it. im not a real good carb man but can make adjustments or do a basic rebuild if necessary any hint or tips would be most appreciated. yohanus@dslextreme.com .

i forgot not everyone has heard the . . .my eldest son took his discharge from the navy last february so he could go to wyoming tech to learn to customize vehicles. a year before he decided to buy his dear sweet wonderful dad me of course a car for the next christmas. he found a low mileage 95 lebaron gtc convertible in great shape in jacksonville fl for a great price. he missed coming home for christmas but brought it in feb for my birthday. so . . .i got the convert and he got the 79 d-150. budd budd cochran wrote got back in last night from phoenix and the return trip was the thrill of a lifetime. we hit light snow as we got closer to monticello ut going north on us 191 which became heavy snow / slush / ice as we hit the town proper. the thrill came when i discovered that a nighttime snowstorm down a hill in a sporty front wheel drive with performance type tires with a 700 pound trailer on back driving on wet snow and ice is not the time to discover the combined vehicles handling characteristics. but we somehow managed to miss everything kept it fairly straight then we all checked our undies at the next stop. . . . . budd lebaron .

jerry wrote nosey wrote i was just wondering what negative effects kerosene could have on the ram fuel system. lubricity loss on the lift pump is it compatible with the rubber in the fuel system i think the problem with todays diesel fuel lubrication ability is pretty much of a myth now days. the manufactures have added additives to replace what was lost when sulfur content was lowered. now if you add kerosene it might be safer to add something just to be sure. of course you will run a little higher egts with a kerosene mix. you still in the navy working around planes if so you have some of the best stuff around you for winter and summer. good old jp5 and dfm mixed 50/50. dfm works great by itself but smokes a little. ran it in the 89 dodge cummins i had several times. of course nis kind of frowns on it if they find out im around jp-5 and jp-8 all the time. i could probably get away with it but i wouldnt do it. i want to stay as far away from dfm as i can for as long as i can. the owners manual says something about only using jet fuel in emergency situations. i wonder if it mentions kerosene its too cold to run out and get it now. its down in the 50s! .

on sun 21 nov 2004 103021 -0600 all of a sudden mike simmons mikesim@fidnet.com exclaimed i have a 2001 dakota. a bit over a year ago the first setting on my heat/ac blower stopped working followed by three more a few months later so that only the highest setting on the blower worked. at the other settings nothing worked and even the light on the ac button wouldnt light. thanks for any help! jmc usenet at jodi dit ws any day you learn something isnt a total waste. i believe you are referring to the blower motor resistor. do you happen to have the invoice from the previous repair that shows the part number to verify it if so i can ship you one from my dealership. email me with the details. mike chryco service manager member sae mike sent an email to you. while waiting for an answer i continued to research the problem and found absolutely tons of dakota owners with the same issue. one guy says his local dealer wont replace the resistor without replacing the blower motor apparently it could be drawing too much current also some comments on burnt wires in or near the resistor also i cant quite figure out just where the resistor is. i see descriptions of its location under the hood but also a description of it being near the floor duct on the passenger side - for a 2001 dakota club cab which is it im about to brave the cold to see if i can find both positions mentioned but id rather not start taking things about till i know which ones correct. im a computer mechanic not an automotive one jmc usenet at jodi dit ws any day you learn something isnt a total waste. .

to tell the truth i would have rather have had my old d-150. with the load i had in the trailer it would have been great in the snow. budd budd net nanny told me you could have made this on topic since it provides justification to drive a 4x4 ram in snowstorms! - greg on sun 21 nov 2004 143615 gmt budd cochran mr-d150@citlinkspam.net wrote got back in last night from phoenix and the return trip was the thrill of a lifetime. we hit light snow as we got closer to monticello ut going north on us 191 which became heavy snow / slush / ice as we hit the town proper. the thrill came when i discovered that a nighttime snowstorm down a hill in a sporty front wheel drive with performance type tires with a 700 pound trailer on back driving on wet snow and ice is not the time to discover the combined vehicles handling characteristics. but we somehow managed to miss everything kept it fairly straight then we all checked our undies at the next stop. . . . . budd .

ok.. i got a flash code 34 by using the on and off method.. the code in my manual says; speed control solenoid circuits diag description an open or shorted condition detected in the speed control vacuum or vent solenoid circuits. or speed control switch always low diag description speed control switch input below the minimum acceptable voltage. or speed control switch always high dia description speed control switch input above the maximum acceptable voltage. where is this solenoid and/or switch and circuits where are good diag method to use to check these out and...... could this/these problems be tied into when the dealer did the nhtsb recall for the throttle cable/linkage and column ignition wiring replacement the truck has not run right since the dealer did these.. thanks all for the help dave p.s. i want my truck back.. i miss driving her and the fun we have - besides my girlfriend misses the truck also ;- .
