my last van was a 79 dodge one ton i think it was. it broke a leaf spring on the drivers side. a friend and i replaced it using only hand tools. his air tools had just been stolen and i didnt have along my plug in impact wrench. that took several hours and many asprins. the other side i brought my impact gun with me and that worked a lot better. from your posts it sounds like hes quoting replacing both springs and the brackets. i think i paid about $150 for a used set of springs. anyhow six bills sounds like it could be an ok price for the job. figure $200 parts and then that makes $400. well at 60 an hour thats about 6.5 hours of labor. which is believable. id suggest to call a spring specialty shop and ask for an estimate over the phone or drive it in for estimate. some spring shops do a high enough volume of work they can get a better price. and it may only need the brackets. hard to find i dont know. never tried. what i do know is that air tools or plug in impact wrench sure makes the job easier. -- christopher a. young you cant shout down a troll. you have to starve them. .. i have 93 3/4 ton pickup. i think maybe it is called a d250. the rear leaf spring brackets are all rotted out. my local mechanic has quote me 600 bucks to replace brackets and springs. he has the parts on hand. he was in the middle of restoring his own truck and then a kid came along and one thing leads to another and he abandons his truck restoration project and is left with the parts. so anyway he shows me the new brackets and shackles and springs andf stainless steel bolts and so forth on his truck. it all looks very nice. so here are the questions. is 600 bucks a good deal the frame rails look ok but is it possible he will get into it and find that the frame rails arr going to need to be strengthened is this a common thing or is brackets usually all that is needed he says the oem brackets are hard to find. is this true regards bob .

so here are the questions. is 600 bucks a good deal by brakcets are you referring to the shackles that bolt to the leaf springs and themounts on the frame rails or do you mean the tabs that are welded to the frame that the spring/shackle bolts up to if its just to replace the springs/shackles which is just a matter of unbolting or sometimes torching off if the bolts are too rusted the old stuff and bolting up the new then i think its a little much. if hes talking about cutting off the brackets from the frame and welding new ones on along with all new springs/shackles/bolts then i think its a good deal. .

anyone tried one of these lighter plug impact wrenches i got to change a tire a couple weeks ago and really coulda used an impact. but do they do any good or are they all hype and no torque i have one - never use it much since i also have on-board air but the couple of times i used it i found it surprisingly torquey. however that torque comes at a price which is speed of use. the thing has to wind up then a solenoid trips and it slams home. you get maybe 1 blow every 2-3 seconds. on the plus side it should only take 2 or 3 blows to break loose your average lug nut. overall not a bad thing to throw under the back seat and certainly better than nothing. . 222 326502 12o8j7edq013b3b@corp.super.com what a bunch of wussies we have here.... arrrggg....friggin rabbit!!!! somebody has to provide the cheap entertainment.... you are with the double post. whats up for some reason my posts dont show up for an hour or so. damned computer/server/ reader/seat heater/whatever... ya probably have a knot in the wire.g roy denny naw it just takes awhile to permeate the gaseous aura around the wabbit. mike .

how about we go back to football!! i finally figured out what is up with the pats. just came out this past week brady and his girlfriend have split up. a couple of months ago he spent like 10 mil. on a condo in nyc to be closer to her. so hes gotta be pissed off. we did this at the start of the season. lets try it again. with only a few games to go who do you pick for the super bowl pickin football for me is like pickin stocks. as soon as i chose one they are gonna take a dive for sure. so to save my favorite teams i wont mention them here. as for brady...........he is still one of the best two qbs in football. i think that the rest of the tteam has fallen down a little bit. .

lol thats what i thought -- huh one piece! littledevil46@hotmail.com says... has anyone had problems with their diff they are telling me that i need a whole new diff and because it is one piece i need to replace the axles and everything in the rear end. im only 19 and a girl and i think they are just trying to get my money has anyone had problems with thier truck one piece one piece what im sure you have the normal 9 1/4 inch rear thats been used for years and was on my truck. there have been problems with this rear. i took my 2003 in for a front and rear differential oil change and it turned out the rear was about to fail and there was a broken clip in the bottom and the carrier and almost everything except the axles ended up being replaced under warranty. if you have too many miles on yours it still might be covered under some hidden warranty. good luck. bdk .

remember also that the worst wear occurs on cold startup. 5w30 would be best for an engine in good condition since it would minimize startup wear and still increase its viscosity to the higher number as engine temperature builds. 20w50 would result in poor flow on startup with increased wear as a result. as the miles on the engine climb higher and clearances increase 10w30 might be a good step since its a smaller range of viscosity and therefore should have less additives which contribute to deposits. what do you think dj wrote my truck calls for 10w-30 and in florida i dont need to worry about operation below freezing hardly at all. i have been running 20w-50 in most of my trucks because it often sees operation in temperatures above 90 degrees and above 100 in the summer. i know that on startu-up 10w-30 reaches the bearings quicker but wouldnt 20w-50 give it more protection in high heat conditions also i noticed the new 5w-30 oils out there. all data has the 5w-30 listed as an option in my truck. is there any advantage to 5w-30 over the others i would think the thinner oil wouldnt protect as well under harsh conditions like 4 wheeling or towing a trailer. i would appreciate you comments. i currently run castrol 20w-50. i would never use quaker state after rebuilding my fair share of quaker state engines with an inch or two of sludge build up from the parafins in qs. you need just enough viscosity to maintain proper pressure and no more. extra thick oil does not provide extra protection it takes more energy to move it around and puts excess strain on the pump and pump drive mechanisms. i run 5w-30 in my truck year round. in the summer i often tow a trailer in temps to the high 90s. in the winter it only gets down to about 0*. oil pressure is always right where it should be. still running great after 82k miles. -- .bob 2006 fxdi hot rod 2001 dodge dakota qc 5.9/4x4/3.92 1966 mustang coupe - daily driver 1965 ffr cobra - 427w efi damn fast. .

last time i posted something to clean up usenet i got told that i should go lay down cause its unregulated. however i do agree that chain letters and such usually just need to be deleted. if they really seeem compelling check www.snopes.com and see if there is any truth to them. theres a 13 year old girl named heather bublekin in sheboygan miss and shes been kidnapped. the kidnappers say if you dont check your urban legends on snopes they are going to mail her back to her parnents a piece at a time. surely you care! youve got to check snopes about the urban legends. heather needs you!!!!! five bangs for emphasis!!!!!. god bless you for checking snopes. even her father miguel was crying as he begged the tv cameras. tell everyone to check snopes!!!!! amen. -- christopher a. young you cant shout down a troll. you have to starve them. .. these prayer chains friendship chains heart-wrenching stories and others like them are just chain letters. they are idiotic. theyre in the same category with virus warnings hoaxes etc. virtually everyone who forwards them does so reflexively. they provide no value and no results and are more burdensome on the internet due to their sheer quantity than you can imagine. do you want to support our troops then make a chain that produces results. a far more useful and productive chain that would produce results would be one that encourages donations for military family support organizations or other worthwhile charities -- and provides links. but instead its a just a sappy chain letter that will never accomplish results except to add to the endless circulation of useless chain letters around the globe. with a god-bless-you and an amen to try to leverage a guilt trip on anyone who doesnt forward it. god bless you! amen! great show of support to our troops considering the time of year that it is. asshole .
