Q: on sat 13 nov 2004 172008 gmt uncle sam jqpublic@nomail.net wrote will the tech be able to see if the sensor is bad even if its during a period when the truck and the sensor are working or do i need to wait until its acting up for them to check it thanks the dealer/independent has a scan tool that can be connected to the pcm and all sensors monitored on start up we can see if the crank sensor and distributor are in sync and if not which one is not working or you can thro parts at it glenn beasley chrysler tech im the original owner of a 2001 dakota with 69k miles recently the truck has an intermittent problem with starting. the starter cranks but the engine just wont kick over. i was told i could have a bad crank position sensor. can anyone offer me a suggestion as to what to do. i was told if i take it to the dealer and they cant reproduce the problem im still going to be billed for a problem i still have. also if it is the sensor where can i purchase on is this a dealer only item thanks next time it does that turn the switch off. wait a few minutes remove the gas cap put your ear close to the gas hole have someone turn the switch back on -- if you hear a buzzing sound that buzzes a second or 2 then quits its not your fuel pump. if it buzzes on and on its probably is your fuel pump or youre out of gas . if there is no buzzing its either the fuel pump or the fuel pump relay. in other words you should be able to hear the fuel pump. it should pump up to pressure then turn itsself off. unless dc made some changes in the past few years thats not how it works. afaik there is no pressure monitoring in the fuel system. the pcm turns the pump on for a set period if time when the ignition is first turned on to pressurize the system and switches it back off with no regard to the actual pressure. when the engine starts the pump is switched back on and stays that way until the engine is stopped. just because you can hear it doesnt mean that it is working or not. i agree with glen hook it up and see what is going on. if a sensor is failing or intermittent there should be some trouble codes stored. not every code sets the check engine light. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

tbone wrote but you have yet to give a valid reason why it is not a good choice. tbone that is a backwards question and not the reason to approve something. whats the matter miles dont actually have a valid answer so resorting to spin again. the point is that every rule has restrictions and has to be weighed on a cost to benefit ratio. when it was written the benefit was high for the cost but in todays world the cost remains the same for no real benefit at all. i wont support ammending the constitution unless there is a direct viable benifit to the people of this country for doing so. you have not given such a valid viable reason. sure i did. you just chose in your oh so typical childish maner to delete it and pretend that it never existed. the only way it could really be a bad choice is if the american voters are a bunch of idiots. is that what you are saying miles geez boner you keep getting stranger with your logic every day. in your view there should be no rules as to whom should be allowed to run for president. just let the voters decide right no need for any rules of any kind right sigh. i never said that now answer the question. why do they have to be a citizen why would you want someone who is not part of the country running it this has not changed with the passage of time. whoa here tbone. wouldnt a non-citizen only be a bad choice if the american voters are a bunch of idiots spin spin spin. why would the intelligence of the voters make someones citizenship either a good or bad choice why do they have to be 35 years old because you would want your leader to be well educated and experienced with life itself. this has not changed with the passage of time. wouldnt someone under age 35 only be a bad choice if the american voters are a bunch of idiots spin spin spin. why would the intelligence of the voters make someones age either a good or bad choice why do they have to have 14 years residency in the usa because the person running the country should be a part of it and familiar with the internal culture and what is going on within it. this has also not changed much with the passage of time. wouldnt someone with less than 14 years residency only be a bad choice if the american voters are a bunch of idiots spin spin spin. why would the intelligence of the voters make someone length of residency either a good or bad choice why a term limit term limits have nothing to do with who gets the privilege to run for the presidency. please stay on topic. yes it does. clinton for instance cant run for president again because of the term limits rule. try to stay focused here tommy. now answer the question. spin spin spin. that still has nothing to do with the topic at hand since if they were not allowed to run in the first place term limits have no effect on them. i think that it is you that needs to stay focused and stop the desperate childish spinning. face it miles the above rules with the exception of term limits all serve a valid purpose and combined more than eliminate the need for being born here to be one of them and you have yet to show anything different. yep. this is all going on because some moderate conservatives like the idea of aaanold running for president and to you extreme right wing conservatives it is a hidden lefty communist plot to overthrow the gubberment and must be stopped at all costs. oh man too funny tommy. now your warped liberal mind has decided the right thinks theres a conspiracy at work. no the extreem right are really just a bunch of short sighted cowards that feel that the world is against them and need to be protected by currently meaningless rules. now the fact that everything that doesnt agree with you is some warped liberal idea really shows just how biased and warped you really are. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

on tue 16 nov 2004 025749 gmt tom lawrence tnloaswpraemnmcien5g@earthlink.net wrote is this something easy to fix what could it be i figured the steel brake fluid line could be broken or something... get some safety goggles get under the truck and have someone step hard on the brakes. you should be able to spot the leak. first place to check based on your description of the location is the fitting on the frame rail where the hard line terminates and the flex line begins. if this is the case try cranking down on the connection use two wrenches preferably line wrenches - support the bottom nut while turning the top nut. examine the fle line for cracking or other deterioration. if you even suspect that theyre bad then based on the age of the vehicle replace them both. check the rear flex line as well - chances are if the fronts have rotted the rear isnt far behind. and more than anything else... if you dont know how to bleed brakes or otherwise work on a brake system get it to a shop that does... now. youre risking your life and the lives of others driving that thing. a small leak can turn into a massive hole in an instant. oh sure the fronts and rears are separate systems... but heres the thing.... you go to jam on your brakes to avoid the idiot crossing the street in front of you. at that point the leak point fails severely and you have no front brakes. you panic and jam on the pedal even harder. your rear brakes if theyre even working meaning youve been adjusting them every 3-5k miles then lock up the truck spins around and you kill the jaywalker. congratulations... theyre dead and your life is forever changed. now get the damn brakes fixed. since you have not smelled or seen brake fluid im betting that the master cylinder is leaking back into the brake booster and the engine is burning the fluid. that is easy to check. pull the vacuum line off the booster and see if it is wet inside with brake fluid. but..... even if it is the master cylinder... do what the other guys have recommended and check out the brake lines also. i have already blown a rotten-assed brake line and it aint no fun! get the damned thing fixed before you kill me. so many garys ..so.. clyde .

tbone wrote just because they run doesnt mean that they are going to get in and the same goes for arnold. now if the conservatives are so desperate to hold the office that they would elect him.... arnold has widespread support by both liberals and conservatives in ca. the conservatives didnt elect him. the people of ca did which is largly democratic. none the less this latest amendement advertisement doesnt have much support from either party. wonder who is putting up the $s for it. .

greetings i own a 92 dakota with 115k miles and has the v6 engine and an automatic transmission in it. lately ive noticed that when the engine is cold the transmission has difficulty in shifting out of first gear and into overdrive. when cold the transmission will wait until itsgoing 15-20 mph before it shifts and wont shift into od until the engines been running for 10-15 minutes. when the engine/transmission are warmed up theres no problem. any suggestions thanks in advance for your help! .

all let me know what you think. i have noticed that when i get out of my truck i can smell the sweet scent of warm antifreeze. thorough inspections dont show any sign of leaks at all. i checked the fluid level and it was pretty low...very surprising as i always watch my driveway and parking spots for any signs of leaks. a colleague suggested it might be a bad cap so i refilled the radiator and overflow put on a new cap and will see what happens. thoughts er .
