this van has front only a/c and is equipped with the 318 fi engine. there is a leak in the evaporator core and i have started to try to remove the case. the info on alldata and in my chilton manual suggests that it should be able to remove the case by angling it out the hood opening once all the retainers are removed. this has not been my experience. i have it loose but it binds and i cannot remove it yet. everyone else who has done this including the dealer drops the steering column and removes the dash or just swings it out of the way. on this van the evaporator core is under the hood inside the engine compartment on the passenger side. the only work you have to do on the dash side is to take out the glove compartment insert to access the case mounting nuts on the studs which go through the firewall to the case. .

aight... this is what i have done so far - sorry for the lack of response i removed the break pedal switch from the mount and held it in closed position depressing the actuator and still the problem has occurred. another test i ran was checking all the connections to the pcm and to the vacuum modulator. they seem to be in working order clean and debris free. in testing all these things out i did come across a constant anomaly. when pushing the various buttons for the cruise control system i noticed the following if the cruise control is on and the indicator is lit if i push the cancel button the cruise completely shuts off. if i push the the set button nothing happens i am doing these tests in park in idle - the light remains on and the system appears to be on. if i push the coast button - it turns off completely and the indicator goes out. could this be then a faulty switch that is causing the issue the results are very constant when i run this test. the only thing i question is that after driving a mile or two the system indicator will not come on at all no matter what you do however it will come on at least right after you start the truck. it will also remain on for a maximum of 2 minutes and a minimum of 1 second. another thing in idle i get the same result of the cruise not coming on after about 2 minutes or so... no matter what i do with the exception of restarting the vehicle the cruise control indicator will not come on again. to answer previous question - it is an automatic. another note i had an electric brake system installed for the purpose of towing my camaro around. i disengaged that as well to see if it was causing an issue but it seems it doesnt have an effect on the issue. i get the same problems with or without the electric break wired in or not. thanks so much to all that have responded - i really appreciate it as i used to rely on my father for electrical help with automobiles but he passed away a year ago and now i am left to fend for myself. ******************* ac issue is all set though - seems it was related to the system not being properly charged. i am in the process of getting that taken care of. .

have a chance to get a 2003 dakota slt 4 door pickup. are there any things i should look for. will go this weekend for a test drive. i had an 02 for a couple of years. only problems were warped/cracked front brake rotors - which seems to be normal for any chrysler jeep/ dodge product. great truck other than the absolutely unacceptable gas mileage. the price seems low for a dealer. thats why im curious. in photos it looks really nice and clean. theyre asking 10.500 for 11000 miles. thats high for a v6 2-wheel-drive quad cab and low for a v8 4x4 quad cab. remember though at $3+/gal for fuel its tough to give away a vehicle that gets 12 miles per gallon. look up the book value. they paid a couple grand under trade-in. dont pay more than private party value. despite what they say it is not in excellent condition. -rev .

on wed 6 jun 2007 122922 -0400 midlant washrag71@hotmail.com wrote got to tell you guys what an ace tom is. offline he had me check fuel at the injectors to ensure i didnt have pump issues as i had low power problems. truck would barely get out of the way 96 w/cummins. as i went thru and cracked each injector i noticed all but one caused the engine to stumble upon cracking it. front cylinder. it also looked like it was nasty junk that came out but hard to tell as i have an oil leak at the valve cover. any way truck is running great again. guess that it had an air lock that wasnt allowing fuel to reach the injector. engine was running on 5 instead of 6 cylinders. weve got a great asset here. i know we depend on him for a lot of advice. it says a lot of him to stick around and help us with all the bickering from the reactive personalities on here. blessings john i dont want to hurt snowjobs feelings but tom is our resident expert and an old timer here as well. beekeep .

its not really what youre asking about but i prefer bf goodrich tires for their long tread life and puncture resistance. i have their all terrain t/a on my dodge 2nd set almost ready for a 3rd plus 3 sets on my old toyota and mud terrain t/a on my scout. i get 50k+ miles per set great traction and very few flats as compared to other tires ive had. brian wrote its bout time for a new set of tires on the ram. looked at some general grabber at2. they look pretty good. has anyone else ran general tires on there ram or dakota. if so how good were they thanks also how about dayton timberline ats anygood .

anyhow he scanned it and said it is the torque converter clutch. i asked him about just disconnecting the lockup which people used to do on gms but he said it is all tied into the computer so you cannot just unhook it. he is talking about $1100 for a rebuild which sounds reasonable. as to why the computer replacement seemed to fix it for about 3 months--no idea. so was he saying the clutch wasnt fully engaging thus causing excess friction and therefore overheating the fluid and yes you can just disconnect the lockup function - just have to cut one wire. it may set a code but it would effectively prevent the clutch from trying to lock up. $1100 for a rebuild is very reasonable - are you sure hes talking about a complete re-build and not just replacing the torque converter .

need to replace my left brake light and reverse light but after taking the screws out of the tailgat side of the lens the tail light lens does not want to come out. are there more screws or is it popedonto som type of post that it has to be forced off of should only be the two screws.... though if you give your year make and model - it would make things easier for everyone. .
