last day in the army was 30 march. spent the last year plus as a net admin and something i have always been into. hd is treating me well so far. waiting until sept so i can reapply for my clearance then there a lot of places chomping at the bit to hire me as a net admin. have to have that clearance though. things are going still in az trying to buy a house not in the army when/why did you get out working at home depot f/t going to school f/t for my aas in network technologies. wow that move took a lot of balls. do you already have a lead on a job or something -- nathan w. collier http//7slotgrille.com http//utilityoffroad.com .

nitpik wrote first thing that comes to mind is a defective engine temp sensor. do these symptoms go away after you drive it a bit any ideas on why when the ambient temp is above 40f that when i start my 2000 durango the idle is rough and occasionally jumps to around 2000rpms it also revs up when i shift into park and if im stopped and the vehicle is in drive the idle is not smooth. i have a 2000 durango with the 4.7 and am having a problem with the idle also. basically when idling with the ac off the rpms bounce between 500 and 1000. when it gets to 500 or below it seems to sputter like it is going to die but then catches itself and revs back up. when sitting at a stop light and idling i often catch myself inching forward if i do not keep a heavy foot on the brake. with the ac on it still bounces but between around 700 and 1200 and it does not sputter like it does when it gets to sub 500. my problem does not go away after driving for awhile however some times it seems fine but most of the time i am afraid it is going to die on me. any suggestions i would like to get an idea of what it could be before i pay to have it worked on. .

4500 - everything comes out the top shafts and all. unbolt the shifter then the coverplate which holds the shiftrails comes off the top. the whole top of the case is exposed. 5600 - you cant remove the top of the case. the rails and shafts come out the end. theres one link that was posted in this thread that shows pictures of both. its clear to see that each case is constructed very different. hhmm....good info i guess. but please explain what you mean by endloader. it is my understanding that the differences are basically in the bell housing larger shafts and longer overall assembly which will necessitate changing the lengths of the driveshafts. -- laszlo almasi carolina watercraft works inc. in the battle between money and love money will always triumph i may have to change my signature...... and by rearloader i meant endloader gearbox. .

big al wrote granville wrote our 99 durango is supposed to have anti lock brakes but im not sure if their working right. braking in a panic situation still leads to a rear wheel lock up even on dry pavement. i have already bled the brakes and add fresh fluid to the system and checked connections. any ideals as to what the engineers at dodge might have goofed on this time remember the ball joints did they ever work -- .bob try them on gravel. go about 30 mph and just stand on the brakes. al they lock up on gravel wet pavement dry pavement or what ever surface you happen to be on when they are hit hard. granville .

i did read the whole thread i dont know what to say other than that is not correct. the cases are not at all the same. the 4500 is a top loader transmission & the 5600 is a rear loader. the only similarity there is that theyre both cast iron. so my question still stands. with regards to the casing they are the same. if you follow the thread down from the beginning youll see the differences stated. -- laszlo almasi carolina watercraft works inc. in the battle between money and love money will always triumph i may have to change my signature...... i am interested in the thread for my own project. so for comparisons sake a 5600 weighs 360lbs and a 4500 weights 250lbs wet. 4500 input tq rating 460ft-lbs on a 1 1/4 10 spline shaft. 5600 input tq rating 550ft-lbs on a 1 3/8 10 spline shaft. then how can anyone say theyre basically the same gearbox other then the extra gear when thats obviously not the case. no the 4500 is cast iron as well. i wont be skipping gears all the time. believe it or not there comes a time when some like myself can benefit from the additional gearing...like maybe plowing snow. its a big jump from 1st to 2nd on the 4500. also the larger clutch will benefit on the plowing and with heavy loads. i actually started this to see what sort of input people had as to being able to make it happen....not as a request for nay-sayers to shoot it down because they dont think its worth it. that being said please lets limit the input to positive only on this thread and if you want to post negatives...start a different thread as a courtesy to me and others that may be interested in possibly doing the same conversion. tia. -- laszlo almasi carolina watercraft works inc. in the battle between money and love money will always triumph i may have to change my signature...... shafts extra gears and such. they are housed in the same casing and use the i coulda sworn the 4500 was an aluminum case and the 5600 was cast-iron... whereas the 4500 is a 5 speed. so...it will indeed add value when coupled to the supercharger and other items ill be installing. how by adding an additional gear between low and 11 that youll probably just skip over anyway i agree here - i dont see the benefits at all... youre not going to put out enough power from a 360 to break the nv4500... those trannies ran just fine behind some pretty beefed-up cummins engines putting out way more torque than you could ever hope to muster with the 360 and the only real problem was with the 5th gear nut backing off due to high torque at low rpms vibrating the nut loose - another problem you wont have with a 360. .
