tbones post was a lot more informative than anything else i got. it was just a thought i was researching and did not think it would be so hard as it apparently would be. by the way i dont start projects i dont finish. and i like to research my projects as much as possible before starting and if someone has answered as in-depth as tbone did yesterday then i would have given up then. one of the original answers said it would not be that difficult which is why i kept pursuing it. these things are just a few problems off of the top of my head and im sure that there are more of them to think about. i have to agree with the others on this one. unless this truck has some special value to you i would just repair the automatic it probably would cost less and be much faster than the conversion. then sell the truck and buy one with a 5 speed if that is what you really want. good post tbone! sounds like he will be taking a $10-$15000 truck and turning it into a project that someone else will finish! i have more of a clue what it will take to do this swap and i would not do it on a dare! he will find out it would have been cheaper to fix the auto sell the truck and buy a differant truck with the tranny he wants then add the lift kit 2500 axles whatever to get it back to the point he is now! then when he is done he will have a truck that is worth much less than he has into it because nobody wants to take a chance on dealing with repairs on his creation. greg .
