OT: Had some action happen
From : yonzie
Q: had a little action happen on tues morning around 330. we live along a busy four lane highway theres this sight curve on this highway about half a mile from our place. now this young driver says he didnt doze off tried to straighten out this slight curve. just as he was entering the ditch he hit my neighbours approach that comes off the highway to his farm yard. he was lucky here because as he was just entering the ditch he came onto the edge of the approach. the approaches are about six feet high in the deepest part of the ditch lucky he didnt hit the approach dead on. anyhow he is now going over this approach and coming down in the center of the ditch thats one big drop. now in the ditch about 70 feet away theres another obstacle. a water run block which is like an approach but not as high. he hits this dead on and goes flying over it. i think hes wide awake now and starting to shit his pants. drives down the ditch and comes back onto the highway just short from our approach off from the highway. theres not much snow in the ditch to get stuck. hes driving this new peterbuilt with two trailers loaded with steel shafts. he parks down on our driveway phones for a wrecker to come and get him. now i never heard nothing get up at eight and heres this truck sitting in our yard. talked to the driver i think he was still in shock brought him to the house for a coffee. he wasnt hurt he felt okay. probably he will start stiffening up tonite. loaded up this steel at hamilton ontario and was headed out to vancouver. going to the mills to be made into shafts. the load was not very high about 4 feet had it cover up. he had a heavy load one. he figures if he was hauling pipe or lumber the load would been higher and sure as crap he would of flipped. the wrecker came checked out the truck and were going to tow it back to saskatoon and another tractor was going to get the trailers. well the load survived the ride. the truck was not too bad. the bumper was pushed in at the botton just about against the front tires. his custom made sleeper was leaning slighty forward the drivers seat busted. the fuel tanks were ok dont think he bent anything on the frame. the first trailer was ok but the last trailer had suffered damage. all the air bag suspensions busted the frame looks like it has a slight bow. i think theres one lucky driver who got an early christmas present survived one hell of a roller coaster ride and his truck did well also. .
