Q: i recieved this email from the local ham radio group thought yall might be interested in seeing this info also. abnt20 knhc 011504 twoat tropical weather outlook nws tpc/national hurricane center miami fl 1130 am edt thu jun 01 2006 for the north atlantic...caribbean sea and the gulf of mexico... tropical cyclone formation is not expected through friday. today marks the first day of the atlantic hurricane season...which will run until november 30th. the list of names for 2006 is as follows name ------------------------------------------------------------- alberto beryl chris debby ernesto florence gordon helene isaac joyce kirk leslie michael nadine oscar patty rafael sandy tony valerie william the greek alphabet...alpha...beta...gamma...etc...is used should the standard list of names be exhausted...as it was last year. in 2005...a record 28 storms formed...including an unnamed october subtropical storm that was added to the official list in april. the long-term averages for the number of named storms...hurricanes... and major hurricanes are 11...6...and 2...respectively. the noaa seasonal outlook for 2006 calls for above normal levels of activity. this product...the tropical weather outlook...is issued four times a day...at 530 am...1130 am...530 pm and 1030 pm eastern time. it briefly describes significant areas of d

noze4@-spamnot-earthlink.net writes actually you can go into the noaa hurricane site and sign on to receive the same email weather statements that they send out to the commercial and governmental weather sites. just a few ideas to share with yall here... for hurricane preparedness one of the best cheap gadgets you can get is an indoor/outdoor thermometer from someplace like rat shack and stick it on your refrigerator and get another one for your deep freeze. obviously stick the remote probes inside the fridge/freezer. that way if you have a small generator that youre using for a fan tv and a couple of lights you know -when- the fridge or freezer need to have the generator pay them a visit. plug in the fridge when its temp goes above 50 and plug in the freezer when the temp hits 30. keep all meat poultry and fish frozen until youre ready to cook it. before you lose power make sure your freezer temp is 0 or below and your fridge temp is 3537. some newer freezers will even go down to -20. the colder you can get it before the power goes out the longer things will stay frozen. chest-type freezers hold more and dont lose nearly as much cold from opening them as do uprights. also refrigerated items that youre apt to want periodically like a beer or soda or water or milk juice etc. put those things in -big- cooler loaded with ice -before- you lose power so you can keep the dang door closed on the fridge/freezer. also make a sketch beforehand of where things are in the fridge/freezer so when you do need to get something out youre not standing there with the door open looking for it. in and out quick and get it all in one trip. .
