From : yonzie

Q: todd chill out. go and pour yourself a stiff rum and coke. relax lifes to short dale 745e0233.0312180612.19035442@posting.google.com todd w. roat todd.roat@uc.edu wrote all points considered and well put. however after considering them all i have decided to continue using the internet for immediate access to information - the very definition of the information super highway. its immediate its quick and its achieving the goal it was intended for. i believe that the entire onus lies with the person who responds to the posts. if an individual is too busy to serve as my librarian by providing information then he should not be responding at all or taking the time to even read the post. i have always felt that this camp of people who get irritated by people who dont rtfm or ask already answered questions questions available elsewhere plain stupid are afflicted. afflicted with this strange and overpowering compulsion to have to respond. they see the post realize its a decidedly waste of their time question but are drawn compelled forced to continue reading then worse forced to respond to it. while they would strongly prefer not to be my librarian they apparently cant help them selves and so i guess have to be my librarian and answer the question or at least take additional time to proclaim the deviation in etiquette as they see it. some tout the need to reply serves to educate others about knowing to rtfm first in hopes that it will reduce the number of future such posts they are forced/compelled to have to read. i think what we are talking about here is an ability of this camp to be able to filter out readable content on the front end or just plain and simple compulsion - the inability to not read a psot. its a curious affliction. kind of fun to watch. in this particular case i have no idea where my manual is. even if i did have it why would i take the time to use it when i thought of the question while in front of the computer i could choose to post the question get an immediate answer and be done with it ie research it or save the question try to remember it go find the manual and refer to it ie intentionally delay the resolution of the question. quick and immediate or delayed and more time-consuming. hmmm which is the better choice. im salaried not hourly i have to work smarter not harder. again the internet is there to be used not a resource available only after other options have been exhausted. i say all this with a smile on my face a song in my heart and no intention other than humor. i did and do not take the negative responses personally not to worry ;^ todd ps - wheres my odometer reset button all very nice but unlike the librarian we dont get paid to do your reading and your research for you. so if you get jumped on for being too fuckin lazy to read the manual you will of course understand...with a smile on your face. ;- i get it already ;^ so what you are all saying is its as per design read the manual dont waste our time enjoy the convenience feature all points well taken. however i have always been a firm believer that the mere existence of groups as a readily available information source precludes the need sometimes to rtom. i was thinking about the questions at that moment i posted the question that moment i got the answer right quick. a scenerio that is the very definition of the information highway. i equate it to being at the public library and having a question about volcanos. if i have the encyclopedia of volcanos at home should the librarian not allow me access to information and resources about volcanos while there i say all this with a smile on my face because you are right - i never thought to look in the manual just assumed it was a fault. but i still think a person should be allowed to ask all the stupid and lazy questions they wish - response is not mandatory ;^ todd enjoying the new light convenience feature now. love my 03 ram 4x4 quad hemi. with dodge its always been the little things that are crappy ;^ my headlight switch is annoying. i have foglights. unless i turn the headlight dial slowly to off position when i get out of the truck my headlights are still on. not that im cranking it off super super fast but more like anyone would - normal speed. but normal speed somewho is too fast for the headlight switch to register the input. anyone else have this troublke is there a fix thanks todd in cincinnati .
