OD or not to OD

Q: the fact that an aircraft is supported by the application of bernoullis principle does absolutely nothing to lessen the force of gravity on the mass of the airplane. and i never said that it did. you absolutely did. you claimed that an aircraft in level flight was weightless. yes there is another force actually the same gravitational force that tries to pull the plane down is the same force that keeps it in the air do you care to explain this sure... as i understand it can be a little confusing. see we have this concept of air pressure... 14.7psi at sea level to be exact. its that atmospheric pressure that is exerted in all directions around every object. however the shape of an aircrafts wing creates a bernoulli effect in that it allows the air to travel faster over the top of the wing than the bottom. according to bernoulli a faster-moving fluid air water dont matter exerts less force perpendicular to its direction of travel than a slower-moving fluid. therefore a pressure differential is created with a lower pressure area above the wing and the greater atmospheric pressure under the wing pushes it up. now... where does that atmospheric pressure come from what creates that 14.7psi gravity. thats working against the force of gravity but that doesnt mean the gravitational force no longer exists. again i never said that it did you claimed the object was weightmess. since weight=mass times the acceleration of gravity and the mass remained the same for an object to be weightless gravity must be zero or the acceleration of that mass must match that of gravity... ie. freefall but thats not what were talking about here. .

salesman said the hemi gets about the same gas mileage as the dakota. hard to believe given the hp difference. most people drive by the seat of the pants i.e. they expect a certain amount of acceleration and speed and will flog the engine as hard as needed to achieve the desired feel regardless of engine size. unless the engine is incapable of meeting their unreasonable expectations in which case a smaller engine may give better mileage at the cost of high levels of user whine. from an engineering perspective the efficiency of all modern internal combustion engines is so similar that displacement is almost irrelevant to mileage. a certain rate of fuel burn makes the same amount of power in any engine and mileage is a function of acceleration and air and rolling resistance. it is only at the margins of the engines performance envelopes where there is a significant advantage to a larger or smaller engine in a given application. .

i cant speak for others but my 02 durango slt+ has been nothing but sweet for me. i love it. the only thing id love more is a new durango with hemi but alas cant afford it right now. check consumer reports and see what they have to say. i came real close to buying 03 durango 4wd v8 a/t. then about 3 people saying dont buy chrysler products there transmissions are n/g and poor design..whats upand what is the problems or the truth .

its not a matter of being outside of the laws of physics it is simply a matter of the definition of weight. very true. so if mass x gravity = weight then helium airplanes and ices cubes all have weight and are not weightless as you claim. unless youve got another definition youd like to share. -- max give a man a match and he is warm for a short while. light him on fire and he is warm for the rest of his life. the ice cube is weightless in the water as it is floating . the glass of water will weigh more because you have increased the mass contained within the glass. there is no magic here. you really need to think outside of the box every now and then. outside the box is one thing outside the laws of physics is quite another. its not a matter of being outside of the laws of physics it is simply a matter of the definition of weight. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .
