mine sure did not. on my 93 dakota the sensor is on top of the exhaust just before the converter. went searching for the plug thinking it would run up top somewhere. some asshole designed it to plug in on top of the tranny on the left side the sensor is on the right the wire goes over the top. it only has a 15 tail and was a pain to route through on of the other wires and tubes and next to impossible to lower it from the top to line up the threads was no room to take it up from the bottom without dropping the pipe. should be a $50-$60 sensor take your time getting it out. if it is anything like mine i would just cut the wire at the sensor to save the hassle of fishing it through. -- from the desk of jesse a. harrington hi have a 97 dodge ram 1500 w/318 auto engine lite been on .... code blinks o2 sensor needs service..... no shop manual. where is it located and is it easily changed out.... i imagine is interfaces with throttle body some how. thanks asr .

there are two of them on your vehicle. one on each side of the converter. the up stream sensor screws into the converter itself right where it and the y pipe join and the down stream sensor is in the exhaust pipe about a foot past the converter iirc. they can be a bitch to get loose and may require a special socket. you need to determine which one is having the problem by the code or just replace both of them. if one failed the other is probably not all that much far behind. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving hi have a 97 dodge ram 1500 w/318 auto engine lite been on .... code blinks o2 sensor needs service..... no shop manual. where is it located and is it easily changed out.... i imagine is interfaces with throttle body some how. thanks asr .

by the way if you have not yet replaced the cat on your 97 its a virtual certainty that it needs to be replaced. if you have under 80k miles on it the job will be covered under warranty 8/80 federal emissions warranty t-bonenospam@nc.rr.com writes there are two of them on your vehicle. one on each side of the converter. the up stream sensor screws into the converter itself right where it and the y pipe join and the down stream sensor is in the exhaust pipe about a foot past the converter iirc. they can be a bitch to get loose and may require a special socket. you need to determine which one is having the problem by the code or just replace both of them. if one failed the other is probably not all that much far behind. .

i have a 96 and last summer i had to replace the forward o2 sensor. there are only 2 one around the tranny/cat converter area and the other more in the back towards the end of the exhaust. go and get the o2 sensor from your local dodge dealer. i must have gone to 15 or so different parts places and no one had the right part. also find out when your vehicle was built because late in the model year cold cause you to have different parts mine was built in july of 96 and it has some 97 parts in it one being the o2 sensors. also make sure to take the old sensor with you to save a trip because youll be back if it dont fit there are two of them on your vehicle. one on each side of the converter. just 2 i dont have the vehicle in question but most obd2 systems have at least 3 if not 4 o2 sensors. .

46f04045$0$62311$892e0abb@auth.reader.octa.com... i just replaced the o2 sensor on my van with a bosch replacement from autozone. the old sensor was intermittant. when the old sensor was working i would measure about .4 volts with the engine at normal temperature. right - that still wasnt working correctly. o2 sensors when running properly constantly fluctuate between rich and lean constantly trying to keep the engine at 14.71 a/f ratio. new sensor starts out at .5 volts cold climbs towards 1 volt and then begins to flip flop between .2 and .9 volts at about a one second rate. thats the way theyre supposed to work. i expected that the fluctuation would be rather fast so that a moving coil meter would average it out to somewhere between .4 and .6. it does seem to run ok thanks to all bg .
