check for loose shock mnts proper u-bolt torque worn shackle bushings spare tire/tire tools. does it make noise onlywhen stopping or accelerating what about road conditions another possibly stupid question that i probably already know the answer to. i drive a 90 dodge caravan c/v with 187k on it. i have been hearing clunking coming from the rear end ever since i have owned it. i believe it is the leaf spring shackles making the noise. since i have a cargo version with no insulation every noise is amplified within the van and i am used to it. is there anything that i should look at it passes inspection all the time and the inspector has never once said anything like my springs were going to fall out or anything. the rear suspension is so stiff due to the c/v status and lack of weight 99% of the time that i doubt the shocks even move. perhaps it is nothing. experience / opinions chas .

im getting a little bit of a vibration through my clutch pedal. its a brand new clutch by the way. i just got it a few days ago. the vibration is barely noticeable. when i press the clutch pedal to shift a gear thats when i notice the slight vibration. its as if i can feel the engine vibration through the clutch pedal slightly. is this normal when you install a new clutch or is it uncommon would this vibration lessen after a while its quite possible that the release bearing in the kit is a low quality item and that is causing what feels like a vibration. could be slightly rough. i spent $200 on labor and $80 for the part. i bought the kit which came with a new clutch disc pressure plate and release bearing. overall im not 100% happy due to the vibration. sucks spending $280 and not being happy. i think i jumped the gun by replacing the old clutch. i just figured that since the old clutch was 8 years old and i was getting some of vibration when releasing the clutch pedal coming off 1rst gear that i should change it. if i could go back in time i wouldve just left the old clutch until it broke and saved me the $280. this is a perfect example of if it aint broke dont fix it. you will notice slippage when starting out and shifting when the clutch plate is worn out. by the way what exactly wears out on the clutch how do you know when a pressure plate is worn out i think my old pressure plate was worn out but my clutch disc wasnt. when i looked at my old pressure plate horizontally i noticed the fingers werent visible from the top as iooked at it horizontally. on the new pressure plate when i looked at it horizontally i did see the fingers sticking out from over the top of plate a little which im assuming means my old one was worn. am i correct in assuming this means my old pressure plate was worn ive only seen springs get weak or broken or a finger or two break off on a pressure plate. i doubt you would have much wear on the surface of the plate itself. thanks and happy thanksgiving. ditto. .
