Q: recently purchased a 97 1500 - 5.9l ext cab since we have horses well need haul some not much. went to southern outdoors birmingham alabama and bought the ssa8 super spring setup to stiffen the rear. the quoted price of $284.00 was reasonable. oh caution to install it you need to buy the mounting brackets for another 60 bucks. went to autozone for an electric auxiliary fan external trans cooler and a new water pump. the new water pump was the first choice of repair as the heater wasnt putting out that much heat. flushed the system but got little to no return from the hose. took ten hours to do the entire project including the interior toggle switch for the fan. the return coolant tube is the most ridiculous hose-to-water pump connection system ive seen for a system under pressure. i didnt know that the tube typically breaks off at the o ring...and of course a dealer item. i took a shot and asked a mechanic at the dealership about the issue and he told about the dodge fix to all problems. black silicone. shes running and hauling fine. thanks for heads up on the advice. oh neighbor stopped by to tell me that the oil pump will fail and after dropping the oil pan two bolts and youre done. dont be fooled by the local mechanic. btw this is the same neighbor that put retreads on his 72 nova so the yard police wouldnt tow it. also known as yard beautification in alabama. put plants in youre washing machine or tires on your car either way it increases your property value. see yas. john .
