New Truck Questions

Q: you seem to have it all figured out. i wish i had your great insight. you keep bringing up the 500 kias so ill ask you this what do you consider worth dying for i ask this because i wonder how you think the u.s. should have responded to 911. iraq is just one piece in the puzzle there may be many more. the war on terror did not end in afghanistan and it will not end in iraq. let me finish by saying that i am a canadian and i support the u.s. 100%. i guess it boils down to whether you think america is a force for good or evil. i believe america warts and all is a good country and i dont believe their motivation is solely monetary. call me naive if you want. lol are we all one of his friends where did i say that he did it to boost the general economy at best it will help to protect it from a total crash due to a possible oil embargo and that was probably more on his mind than any wdms when he chose his course of action and that course of action also benefited a few select friends of his as well. i guess that was worth the loss of over 500 fathers sons and brothers dont you agree -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving yes it certainly has been a major windfall for americans. whats deficit this year not really. it takes more than a suspicion of terrorist support to attack another country. there is no doubt that the saudis have been supporting islamic fundamentalists. they were the principal financial backer of afghanistans taliban movement. they have also supported hamas. this is not speculation. the point is that you need proof that the leadership of these countries directly supported it and sent them to attack us and that proof simply doesnt exist. what you know without proof equates to nothing. our lying president didnt need this proof to attack iraq because they had their bs intelligence of wmds even though they knew that he didnt really have them. why do you think that he wouldnt wait for or listen to the inspectors before attacking. all the wmd bs did was create a good excuse to attack and get into the oil fields and a bonus easy no bid way for his friends to make a shipload of money in the process. so what if a few of our men and women die in the process. according to the conservative spin masters more people die in the streets of our main cities per year than have died over there and the really scary and sad thing is that there are people here that are dumb enough to buy into that.. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

clintons plan didnt create jobs. a technology boom fueled by people willing to invest trillions into these high-risk stocks created the money supply for the jobs. economists in the 90s had stated over and over it was a sure plan for collapse but investors saw the market keep going up and dove in head first. when these companies failed as predicted the market collapsed. you can spin it how you want but it was an economy that had no backbone to stay afloat. nope. it was clintons agressive plan regarding the bond market. i still invest in high-tech stocks ... the same ones i invested in int he 90s. so do all of my friends and family yet our economy is in the toilet. part of the reason is that high-tech jobs are flying out of the country at an unprecendented rate. yet the unemplyment rates at just over 5%...same as it was under clinton....that came out today on boortz..and dammit...if i had not have been driving i would be able to tell you where the info was from... carter during clintons years the unemployment averaged higher than it is now. so let me get this straight ... youre saying that there were more unemployed people in the mid-90s than now what right-wing economic rag are you reading north carolina lost a tonand i mean a ton of manufacturing jobs in the 90s. lexington and thomasville furniture..all but closed here....lexington furniture closed the largest plant they had here. why clintons trade agreements left the market wide open for china. you got it..china. as a construction worker i can tell you as a consumer you should know this already too that prices on wood wood products and anything made of steel has skyrocketed. i went to go price some spiral duct really nice looking duct for exposed systems in particular today and i was flat out shocked at how it went up...a 14 inch connector..nothing fancy...basically a 14 inch around slip joint thats for looks and for connecting the two sections of 10 foot pipe went from $2...to $10....a 10 foot section of duct in 14 inch went from $10 to $43.98. why cause all the steel is getting shipped to china.. the jobs that we lost in this small town btw are coming back. we lost over 4000 jobs here in 98 and now we have all but a few back. our biggest issue at this moment...illegal aliens from mexico. when clinton came into office the economy was growing. when he left the economy was falling. nope ... this country was in a recession when he took office. i remember that being part of the presidential debates. i was a perot fan at that time ... mainly because i worked for him ... and that was perots beef as well with daddy bush. i have to ask....and this is legit..but how long do you think it takes a presidents plans to go into effect and how many of bush sr.s plans went into effect while clinton was in office and 50% of americans think kerry is worthless. whats your point actually i dont like kerry. i simply hate bush more. my answer is mccain. my point was that bush has successfully alienated at least 50% of america and 90% of the world. i dont buy that. bush didnt do a thing about the rest of the world till after 9-11....and who was it...roosevelt that stated that the us should be or act like policeman to the world i dont buy that either....north korea seems to be doing fine chinas just kicking assand other countries seem to be fine without our help...but then they also tend to think in the color red. the us is the first that other countries come to when there is a problem. there are countries now that are asking for our help and no one...not even the us has stepped in. i havent paid much attention to the exacts as its not been a real concern but since everyones wantingto talk about the un its one of those things that i notice even they ignore. we can not allow the world to dictate our policies nor ask the un to protect us. that isnt at all what i am advocating. we cannot afford to alienate the world. period. call that what you want put your right-wing vocabulary on it if you want. we are where we are today not because we have acted alone like we have in the last 4 years. we cannot afford to run around world blowing the fuck out of everyone that our redneck president thinks needs it. you mean two countries that supported and advocated attacks on the us...one country that we technically were still at war with. the us could have done much worse. still might. worse yet mike savage had a guy on the other night that was a security director of some sort with clinton and hes wrote a book....umm...i think its called the secret war in iraq...i just did a web search and cant locate it....i will try sending a mail to savage and see if i get a reply...i doubt it but its worth a shot... but hes claiming that there is a better than average possibility of the us getting hit with a nuke suitcase before the elections......wh

john kunkel wrote on thu 7 oct 2004 john kunkel wrote the engine speed is not connected with the oil consumption. if your engine consumed or lost 4 quarts of oil in 800 miles you either have a whipped engine or a large leak. disagree many vans had ridiculously low axle ratios and the absence of od would have the motor running at 3500+ rpms at freeway speeds. a tired motor will suck more oil at 3500 than it will at 1800. ...and a non-tired engine will use no more oil at 3500 than at 1800. blanket statements like the engine speed is not connected with the oil consumption. invite disagreement. if the engine consumes a certain quantity of oil on each full combustion cycle the consumption will increase with engine speed simply because there are more cycles per minute. going with what you just said that would mean that oil consumption on a given engine would be the same amount per mile regardless of speed. iow - if you make a 400 mile trip on straight and level hiway you might make it in 10 hours or in 5 hours depending on whether you drove 40 or 80 mph. but from your statement you would use the exact same amount of oil for that 400 mile trip i.e. oil consumption would be have the same per thousnad mile rate. not saying i agree or disagree with your conclusions - just want to be sure you understand the end result of what youre saying. bill putney to reply by e-mail replace the last letter of the alphabet in my adddress with the letter x ----== posted via feeds.com - unlimited-uncensored-secure usenet ==---- http//www.feeds.com the #1 group service in the world! 100000 groups ---= east/west-coast server farms - total privacy via encryption =--- .

a v6 3.9l with 186000 miles. its been missing once it was warmed up. the other day i went to the store and when i came out it wouldnt start. with nothing other than a pocket knife i could only diagnose no spark produced at the coil output. after cooling off 15 minutes coil produced strong spark some of which went through my body. it started and ran fine. drove about 10 minutes and it stopped running. same drill then drove it home. runs fine until it gets warmed up. i have the service manual and plan to go through their diagnostics when i can but does anyone have any suggestions im thinking either pickup or cps since both are buried in the engine and get more heat than the other components. whatever is wrong is strongly heat related. the distributor shaft was replaced about a year ago after it chewed up a few rotors. any help appreciated. .

crybaby crap from budd snipped sorry for the piggyback response on budds reply but rrs worthless servers really suck and i never saw this one from you. sure you probably could buy a few stock short blocks for less and save money but you really wouldnt be any better off than you were to begin with. then you forgot to add the time and fun of yanking the dead engine out swapping parts putting the new one back in and hoping that you didnt miss or break something in the process and having no vehicle in the mean time. if you flog anything long enough and hard enough youll break it. the mods i gave are minor and are well within the capability of the engine to withstand. possibly but just because the mods are easy doesnt make them minor. changing the waste gate pressure on a turbocharged engine is easy too but the results are far from minor. im not completely sure how much more hp that engine can reliably deal with but from your link you are probably right. either way i doubt that the drive train will put up with it for long if you make it tow with this extra hp. any way you look at it there is no free lunch. how the heck do you liken a increase in boost on a supercharged engine to a waste gate change on a turbo charged engine you are kidding right iirc that engine was designed to put out around 260 hp stock without the blower and ford already added 100+ hp to it and i doubt that they made any significant changes internally or they simply wouldnt be able to sell that truck so cheap. you really dont know what the hell your talking about when it comes to high performance do ya when you say things like that it sounds more like you dont. from what i can find on the web it is the same 5.4 short block that the regular truck uses and ford hopped it up with a supercharger and some other mods. how much more hp do you think that this engine can take if they were using the gt block this truck would cost much more than it does now. bottom line on this is you made a number of stupid uniformed statement about a truck actually two trucks you knew jack about and were proven wrong. no more than you my friend. now you are grasping at straws and spinning. how so or is this another budd accuse and run type comment. sorry roy but there is no spin here. unless you have some type of link showing that the lightning engine has been modified to deal with this extra power it is a stock engine being pushed hard by the factory and pushing it even harder is a gamble. this is what i have been saying the whole time. id suggest you spend some time both behind the wheel and under the hood before you make a total ass of yourself although i think it might be too late. dont depend on the web for all your info. unless you both own the ram srt10 and made the suggested modifications to your lightning you are also depending on the web for all of your info. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

please tell me how you really feel. you seem to have it all figured out. jeez tbone his best defense to anything he cannot fathom is you know it all or you have it all figured out. fortunately for this country and oddly for you and i people dont just swallow the iraq is dangerous line blindly.... we want to know why. i guess it boils down to whether you think america is a force for good or evil. i guess it distills even further to what you think is a good action or bad action toward either end. the way the iraqi campaign was fed to the public and they lapped it up was so much like nazi germany it was scary. big leader takes advantage of riled up public points his finger and says thats the bad guy and the public froths at the mouth looking for a chance to get the bad guy. politicians fall in line with support after watching their constituants. fortunately i think the goal in this case is far more worthy than that of nazi germany... but the whole thing looks vaguely familiar and very scary in its methods. i believe america warts and all is a good country and i dont believe their motivation is solely monetary. lol hahahahaha. you really think the government would spend billions on avenging the common man who can be replaced with ease if it wasnt for the money somewhere along the line call me naive if you want. ok you are naive. max anvils dont kill cartoon characters cartoon characters kill cartoon characters. .

im a bilstein fan also. i have had them on several cars and they perform great. they are expensive but they will outlast monroes by several thousand miles. i havent put them on my 03 1500 yet but will after about 30000 miles. the factory shocks are holding up fairly well but they dont give the ride that the bilstein will. i just dont want to replace them now because i want to get something out of the factory shocks. dddd yes and like them very much. but i only have the oems to compare them to. bill -- bilsteins. thats the answer i got when i posed the question to a dodge safety engineer. those germans really know how to build shocks. they are a little more costly but have a lifetime warranty. bill-- did you get them how did you like them kevin i have a 98 dodge dakota and was wondering what kind of shocks i should get brand. i have been told by some that monroe and gabriel are 2 of the best but i have been told by others that they dont last long. i also read that it would be best to buy new oem shocks from a dealer because they should last the original warranty period or longer but they cost more than aftermarket shocks. i plan to run this truck until it dies so i want the shocks to last a good while. i only use it for going back and forth to work and the occasional side trip. i almost never go off road and if i do its just an open field or something. so anyway any help would be appreciated. cost doesnt matter i just need to know how actual drivers would rate them. thanks. kevin .

hmm forgot to mention that is the the 48re automatic. others with the 6-speed get the same mpg numbers on the highway and when towing on the highway. lowspeed driving and low speed trailer pulling below tcc lockup is the only time the auto drops the mpg numbers. maybe 1-3 mpg or so. .

big al wrote big al wrote what was the first year for common rail injection in the dodge diesel what was the first year for the dual mass flywheel al 03 was the first year for the common rail injection on the cummins. has dodge ever used a dual mass flywheel i know ford and gm have used them. are you looking for a new truck or used either way i dont think youll regret getting the cummins. check out the torque curves. they are so flat they should call them torque lines. the cummins website still has the 03 specs advertised so they are probably the same for 04. the 03 standard output gives you over 450 ft-lbs from 1300 to 2900 rpm. peak torque is 460 at 1400 rpm. if thats not enough to haul your race car get the high output. it peaks at 555 ft-lbs at 1400 rpm and stays right about there through 2800 rpm. http//www.cummins.com/na/pages/en/products/dodgeram/index.cfm http//www.cummins.com/na/pages/en/products/dodgeram/cummins24vturbodiesel.cfm http//www.cummins.com/na/pages/en/products/dodgeram/faq/index.cfm thanks for the links. as far as i can discover there are no new ho diesels around. went to phoenix today and found nothing. al i have a 99 cummins with an automatic. its rated at 215 hp and 420 ft-lbs torque. it pulls my torino around like its not even back there. i would think the 03 standard output would tow your car very nicely. .

i have driven rwd fwd and 4wd in inclement weather conditions. in my opinion i would pick the fwd for running around town in ice or snow. i would like to propose a test for you rwd people. stop your rwd car on an incline beside a fwd car and see who is left spinning. been there done that. those rwd cars sure do get in the way at intersections. - that is a bs example. in snow/ice it isnt the car it is the driver and the tires. give me a rwd car and a set of blizzaks. you can bring your fwd and your wallet. roy i respectfully have to disagree with you roy. but like they say everyone is entitled to their opinion. i drove a tractor-trailer for 11 years in ice and snow. i learned that even grossing eighty thousand pounds if you had to come to a stop on an incline on ice you probably werent going to get going again without some help. .
