if you ask this over at www.dieseltruckresource.com you might get a better answer. theres a bunch of very knowledgeable guys over there. somebody will be able to help ya out. toby hi well here goes... ive just about checked everything.... i have a 1994 ram 2500 5.9l cummins turbo w/5spd trans. 4x4 slt loaded. i took the truck into the dealer for the recall on the throttle cable w/link and replacement of the column ignition wire. now the problem started. the truck will star and idle fine up to 2100rpm. then it kind goes blah white/blue smoke pumps out at the above rpm and no more boost power this will do the same if i try to drive it. goes ok until punch it. will idle fine all day long if i let it if i romp it below 2000rpms no smoke i can get it to toss some black extra fuel i figure but above the above rpm or drive it no go. i did the following; cracked injector lines will redoengine rpm didnt change may a little but had to listen. new fuel filter retighten the cooling tube clamps dealer left loose no water in oil no oil in water go over the area the mech worked in and correct as much as i could find even found the break hose pulled off. check and looked at all wires hoses i could find. what i didnt do yet; ck injector pump timing lifter pump new one coming in fuel tank and p/u line humm wonder if i could make up a snake valve fuel pressure leak down test turbo also another question; whats a good place to install a fuel pressure gauge - a note on this. ive notice in my research that doing this could save you big bucks lifter pump going badetc.. i just pulled the sender p/u out of my 98 vw jetta engine craped outs after dropping below 1/2 tank found what looked and felt like some type of rubber crap will put a gauge on this car also. and how the hell can you use a code reader have autoxray on this truck without having to lay out $1000 min for a dodge drbii - iii scanner. i will try the mil flashing method again.. in short what low buck check/repair can you do to fix if possible... thanks; dave .

tbone wrote nice try pinhead. you compared your truck to a lightning for a reaction to a boost increase and like you said you cant spin out of something that is still in print electronically. bullshit............ prove it. you wont because it doesnt exist. put up or shut up. you said it thats all the proof that i need. you were the one who claimed that the lightning would react poorly to a boost increase no i didnt idiot. i said it would benefit if nothing but a pulley was installed and no other adjustments made. no you didnt liar that is what i said but thanks for agreeing with me. you asked for proof that a pulley change could give 40hp and i gave you a site that claimed 130+. now i agree with roy that other mods would probably have to be done to reach that level and i already said that the engine probably would not hold up to that for long but they did not say that any other mods were required. i would think that if they claimed 130 that 40 would be easy and the site that roy pointed me to pretty much confirmed that with the claims other owners were making on there. anyone with common sense knows that........ kind of leaves you out doesnt it. then you must not have any because you initially said differently. again ...... prove your statement or shut up. which one i guess that now we should start calling you flip-flop jerry. and when asked how used your truck and its reaction as an example. that seems like a comparison to me and a bad one at that. another flat out lie on your part. no it isnt. we were talking about superchargers turbochargers and the lightning. how would your diesel truck get into it unless you used it for an invalid comparison. all i said was i know what my truck does. which by default means that you were using it as a comparison to the lightning lol. thanks for proving my point for me once again. to lie is one thing but to lie and know everyone knows you are lying is beyond stupid. once again .... prove it or shut up. i would but you just did it for me which either makes you the liar or a complete idiot. personally i think that its a little of both in your case. put the two of them together and you have a budd. a level you still havent achieved. only in that bitter tiny little mind of yours jerry. i must say i can see why budd likes you so much you two are so much alike. oh wow ...... now the troll boy is crying because he has no backing or support. name one person on here that supports or backs you..... there is none troll boy. listening to you cry is really becoming boring. lol why do i need backing or support. this is usenet not reality and btw not all that long ago you were backing me on the caliper compression thread. little tommy troll is really reaching now. even his usual spins are getting weaker and weaker. crawl back under you rock little man or go on down to the other thread where you have bob fooled that you know what you are doing. if bob ever does some back reading he will fast discover what a lying piece of crap you really are. bob and i are having an intelligent conversation about a common interest. something that you and your twin are incapable of doing. btw bob has been here for a while and is smart enough to stay out of most of this crap and while im sure he doesnt agree with me on many things he is man enough not to act like the whine baby you and your twin do because you dont agree with me or like me. back under your rock troll boy............. oh gee that really hurt. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .

first this will be the last of my replies to you. you do have valid points and i appreciate the issues we have discussed up to now. simply put whether it be that you cant understand what i am trying to say or whether i am simply not communicating properly we are just as far apart now as we were. frankly you are too extreme to reason with imo. my father use to tell me when i was a boy and was very hard headed that talking to me was like talking to a telephone pole. i never understood what meant until i got older ... and im beginning to feel that way about you. again perhaps its my fault for not communicating properly. nevertheless this discussion is not going anywhere. dont search out alternatives there isnt any viable alternatives. then do without. we are in the here and now. alternatives are not. they are the future and not the present. the plans we make today for the future will become the present tomorrow. i would say that the most important issue in our society is energy. without it were sunk. the solutions in place now that rely heavily on fossil fuel is not a long term solution and if we do not start looking for a better solution we will get caught without pants down. long term planning is a good thing ... bush is not doing what he should or could on this imo. what i am talking about is for the present not the long term future. with that said we need to stop being dependent on foreign oil today and that means allowing us to tap our own oil rather than get it from someone elses backyard. for one ... i dont believe that there is enough oil under the u.s. to sustain us for long. in order for the oil companies to make the investment to set up shop here they are going to want x years of profitability to pay for it. hybrid automobiles are trickling into the market. at this point and time they arent very practicle at least for me. if there were focus by the energy companies automobile companies and most importantly the federal government we could have practical hybrid vehicles on the road within 5 years which would very likely cut our oil consumption by 1/3. that answers your concern of reducing our dependency on foriegn oil. while the hyrid vehicles are coming to market over the next 5 years the r&d wienies are working on the next generation vehicles that hopefully could be to market within 10 years .... and those if the hydrogen technology is pursued would pretty much cut our oil consumption down to the point that what we do produce here in the states currently would be enough ... and we certainly would be using a small enough amount that we wouldnt have to get it from the middle east. idealistic ... sure it is. but it is not unrealistic if we focus. and as i have said before the payoff is huge 1 good jobs here ... right now! 2 few or no middle east issues 3 cleaner air/better environment. no but you tell us we have to get our oil from someone else. perhaps i am wrong ... but the information i have read indicates that crude oil is just not something that is in abundance here. the truth is miles we made our bed knowing full well that we would always be dependent on other countries for oil. now we are having to lay in it. and instead of solving the problem once and for all bush and his deciples want to put a bandaid on this by drilling here. its short sided ... and stupid imo. alternatives are for the long term. right now we need to get off the dependency of foriegn oil. right now the alternatives are not adequate to do so. alternatives could be adequate with a small amount of money and effort. but that small amount of money and effort has to be driven by the government. the car companies are going to produce whatever makes money. if the focus of our government is to drill for more oil then that gives no incentive for the energy or automobile companies to do anything different. can you see what i am saying here ... or am i preaching to the telephone pole sure most people would do so. but us conservatives are more realistic about the here and now. really is it realistic and smart to give a tax cut in a time of war is it realistic to send the country further into debt and then stand in front of millions and state that the country is doing well economically was it realistic when everyone had horse and buggy to pump money into automobile design ... or was that more liberal long term evil thinking at work future but realize that they wont be technologically available today. and today we have a problem of dependency. the liberals view does nothing for today. pay as you go does nothing for us today balancing the budget does nothing creating better alliances in the world does nothing its important miles to have a balanced view. too far to the left or the right and you miss the opprtunities in front of you. i believe that i have a bala

better a tax and spend liberal rather than a borrow and spend republican. what happened to the republican conservative values of a balanced budget remember newt gingrichs contract with america and the promise of a republican balanced budget the problem with politicians of both parties is that they are spineless. they tell people what they want to hear instead of telling them the truth. nj had its own share of spineless policitians. christine todd whitman a republican cut taxes then issued bonds to balance the state budget. mcgreevey a democrat soon to be ex governor is afraid to raise taxes so after one year of spending cuts he is now issuing bonds to borrow against future cigarette taxes to balance the budget. this is like the federal government on a smaller scale. both parties have ruined the nj credit rating. nj bonds are now slightly above junk quality due to the games played by the last two governors. id vote for the first politician to admit that they cant balance a budget without cutting spending and/or increasing taxes. they cant keep doing the equivalent of paying off your visa with your mastercard. if taxes are cut spending must be cut. if spending is increased taxes or other revenue sources must be increased. you cant tell people that they can have tax cuts while continuing to increase spending. if someone doesnt want to increase taxes then all programs should be cut to the bone. this is my tirade when anyone accuses a liberal of taxing and spending. a so called conservative wouldnt cut taxes and then borrow money to increase spending. .

yep i know that the compressor needs to be run regular or it will dry out. yep i bought that engine for pulling and pull it does. the 8mpg is if it is empty or pulling my 9000lb tt. took it out to san francisco from minn. and back pulling the trailer no problems. used preimum gas on the trip as the manual says. only had to shift all the way down to lowest gear once on elk moutian 11000 ft +. even then it shifted right back up after a few seconds. i got no complaints with the truck i would just like the choice to run the compressor or not. the engine diddnt heat up in the moutians btw. my post wasent a complaint just a quest for information. and thanks for the reply by the way. tom i got a 1999 dodge 4x4 w v-10 that the air cond compressor runs off and on no matter where i set the heat control or climate control. is this needed is there a way to shut it off in the winter my gas mileage isnt real great anyway average 8 mpg does the engine have to pull the air cond compressor when the temp gets to -30 this winter cant find anything in the manual that addresses this. is this normal if so why cause i can live without air cond in the winter. i suppose i can pull the fuse or unplug it or something i guess. are all dodges like this or does mine have a problem. mabey the wizards at dodge have a reason but i dont get it. and im not too crazy about it. anyway mabey somebody here can shed some light on it. thanks tom .

craig christian wrote its not meaningless. i dont want any part of the us drilled. as budd has so dubbed me nimby. not in my back yard and not in yours either. it is meaningless because you still use products daily made from oil. most people that take the view you do do not actively search out petroleum based product alternatives or do without. nimby fits but since you still use so many petrol products the not in yours either quip is hyocritical at best. well not exactly. the area the bush originally wanted to drill was the artic wildlife refuge. its beautiful ... ive been there. have you you need to research the exact area in question. the awr is a very large area. the area in question is just the north shore part of it. that area is almost entirely barren and void of trees. it is the north shore area that is in question. i have family in alaska know it very well. parts of it are treeless because of the cold tempertures and elevation. but those areas still house polar bears caribou and other wildlife. during migration that is true. they do not live there only migrate through the area. the planned operations in the area would not disrupt that just as the alaska pipeline does not disrupt the wildlife. i dont think its worth the damage it will cause for the limited amount of oil we will get. do you what damage everything we do as a consumer damages something. best just not to live right it can be done with very very little impact. why not take the $$ that he was going to put into setting up shop and put it into r&d for alternatives huh what tax $s were going to be used to set up shop its not the gov. that wants to set up shop. is that asking too much you consider me ... lets see what did you call me ... a lefty because of that your views are rather left. i am a conservative and on the right and dang proud of it. why do liberals and lefties hate being called what they are rock on. you know there are *some* republicans that believe we shouldnt drill the us either. if you do not wish to drill then please quit using anything made of petroleum base products. you want it then we have to drill. .
