how exactly did you order it i would go on-line and build another one and see if the auto-dimming feature is still available. if so i would print out the build sheet and bring it back to the dealer and have him explain how it is still available on dcs web site. if he / she still insists on it not being offered i would insist on speaking to a factory rep to confirm it and ask why it is still on the web site. it sounds to me more like the dealer screwed up on the order and doesnt want to have to re-order the truck because iirc putting one of these into a truck that doesnt already have it can be very expensive and he doesnt want to pay up for that either. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving i just took delivery of my new ordered-from-the-factory 2007 dakota laramie. im pleased with just about everything except the rearview mirror. everything i read about the dakota said the laramie came with an auto-dimming rearview mirror but mine came with a cheap day/night mirror. i asked the salesman about it and hes telling me the factory does not install auto-dimming mirrors on dakotas any more. im curious whether that much literature is wrong or if theres a misunderstanding between a few people. does anybody have a 2007 dakota with a factory-installed auto-dimming mirror thanks. -- john t reduce spam. use sender policy framework http//openspf.org .

i have taken this problem to two shops and got completely different diagnostics. when i am driving down the road in my 2000 3500 ram van and i turn the steeling wheel just a little to the left i get a feeling in the steering wheel like when the road has been scrapped/gouged for resurfacing. its sorta subtle and i dont think i hear it probably because i have some tire/road noise anyway. it happen when i am going down the road 60-70 mph and the road curves a little to the left. it does not happen when steering to the right. i took it to the dealer and they came up with a cost pretty high. i was surprised and asked to speak to the mechanic. he admitted that he was not certain that was the problem and would need to get into it more to be certain. not willing to write them a blank check i decided to get another opinion. the second mechanic came up with a completely different diagnostic that was much cheaper and seem to be more certain. he could not start on it for a couple of days due to the holidays so i didnt leave it. now i am having second thoughts on him also. it seems that the dodge dealers mechanic should have a better insight on what the problem is. ok first of all neither mechanic has inspired you with confidence. why should the dodge mechanic have a better insight if all he was able to do was test drive it sometimes you have to disassemble some parts to get at the root cause of the problem and yes you would be expected to pay for this additional diagnosis. even the best mechanic in the world needs more than a test drive to ascertain the cause of the problem. if anyone that works on their truck/van or has an idea what this might be would reply with their opinion i would most appreciate it. and if anyone has had this problem before please let me know what the results were. thanks. i am purposely not saying what the diagnostics were because i dont want anyone influence by either mechanic. i will post them in a later post. i dont know what you hope to gain by withholding the mechanics diagnosis. it may be helpful to know what they found. even doctors when giving a second opinion consult each other. finally since you dont have confidence in the mechanics who actually experienced the problem how much credence will you give to us internet experts all we can do is guess at what the problem might be... an educated guess perhaps but nonetheless still a guess which is what you got from two other mechanics. cmon mike play his guessing game. he says it only happens at 60-70mph. only when turning left and only when the road turns left. seems like he has a hell of a push. sounds like his stagger is off and he needs more foreward bite. maybe add a pound and a half in the right front at the next stopbfg roy mike .

must be cheaper to rivet things together. ive had to grind off rivets to change upper ball joints on my non-dodge vehicle. im glad to hear that you found a spring shop thats willing to do that work. mechanics ive talked to say its a lot easier if you have a lift compared to jack stands in the driveway. one guy i talked to says hes done a lot of driveway work and he figures three times the time. -- christopher a. young you cant shout down a troll. you have to starve them. .. i gave mechanic go ahead to do the work this morning. the brackets are the components that are riveted to the frame rails and to what the shackles are bolted to. there are two on each side. the parts he is supplying are the 4 brackets 2 brand new leaf spring stacks shackles and stainless steel bolts to bolt the new brackets to the frame rails. i understand the work that needs to be done is to grind off the old rivets holding brackets on and then bolt the new brackets on with the stainless hardware. take the new springs and install them to the axle and then hang the whole assy back on the brackets. seems like a lot of work to me. i would rather spend that kind of energy on my 71 vette. .

well for all of the shadetree mechanics in turbo diesel land before replacing any parts or wasting time connecting a scan tool or voltmeter to the electrical circuit start with the easiest step first. i have found the cause of the lock-unlock problem to be a frequency-induced electrical noise into the ground circuit of the battery which causes a fluctuating voltage signal from the tps to the pcm. the solution locate the 10-gauge ground wire that runs from the negative post of the passenger battery to the back of the alternator. this wire is often tan with a black stripe. starting at the back of the alternator loom where the tan/black striped wire heads for the battery wrap the wire with a piece of tin foil about 4 - 6 in length. wrap the tin foil with black electrical tape to secure it in place. road test the vehicle. if the problem is corrected smile. tony garcin dunrite converters vancouver wa 360 693-3200 - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - thanks this is good info. i cleaned all my electrical connections and did the aluminum foil trick but that didnt help. i found an article on-line with the specs for diagnosing the tps so i checked mine and it was way out of spec. i tried adjusting it and cleaning it but nothing helped so i replaced it. after replacing the tps i checked the idle voltage and it was still out of spec so not sure what the problem is yet. my reference voltage is 5.11 so that is good and i used the ground wire going to the tps to check the reference so i assume the ground is good. i am still searching for the answer. thanks for your help. . 222 326711 45925b67$0$1607$9a6e19ea@.hosting.com i just took delivery of my new ordered-from-the-factory 2007 dakota laramie. im pleased with just about everything except the rearview mirror. everything i read about the dakota said the laramie came with an auto-dimming rearview mirror but mine came with a cheap day/night mirror. i asked the salesman about it and hes telling me the factory does not install auto-dimming mirrors on dakotas any more. im curious whether that much literature is wrong or if theres a misunderstanding between a few people. does anybody have a 2007 dakota with a factory-installed auto-dimming mirror thanks. -- john t reduce spam. use sender policy framework http//openspf.org .
