Q: hey all its been awhile since i have posted but here goes. i finally got my 15000lb ramsey brand new in the box shipped for 900$$ winch for my truck. 04 dodge quad cab diesel short bed 2500 and i need some ideas for a winch mount for it... any ideas .

thanks for the replies to my seeking ideas. i guess i should have clarified a bit. i am a bit concerned with the added weight on the front i understand that the weight of the stock bumper is around 75 pounds so with a new bumper/winch combo the overall weight is around 250-300 pounds winch 150 bumper 150+/-. has anyone heard of any problems associated with this kind of weight i.e. accelerated tire wear steering trouble excessive brake wear and tear ive hung 900-1000 pound snow plows off the front of them with no problem. true they dont stay on all the time but there have been times when a month has gone by with a plow mounted. your 250-300 pounds is right close to the truck right on the frame. i wouldnt worry about it. roy i have looked at all of the major aftermarket bumpers i know of reunel trail ready buckstop road armor arb warn... and am leaning toward a road armor as i like the design the best... any input good or bad regarding the ones i listed or do you know of others.... thanks in advance. .

driveramridequad wrote hey all its been awhile since i have posted but here goes. i finally got my 15000lb ramsey brand new in the box shipped for 900$$ winch for my truck. 04 dodge quad cab diesel short bed 2500 and i need some ideas for a winch mount for it... any ideas bob wrote install a receiver hitch on both ends. install electrical plugs on both ends. mount the winch to a hitch mount and toss it in the bed where its safe and secure. when needed you can quickly put the winch in the reciever on either end. -- .bob thats the setup i use w/ my little 3500# superwench unit the mounting base has a 2x2 stinger and carrying handle. the ops winch has a lot more power so hell need to use *extremely* strong tubing for the stinger and have a receiver capable of handling the strain. dunno if a receiver hitch can handle an other-than-inline pull over a few thousand pounds... also at 15000# pull the ops winch will pull 460a of current. to realize the winchs potential were talking 4/0 wiring suitable connectors and a *very* stiff source of 12v. i paid a visit to my local interstate batteries distributor where i found they had all the electrical parts i needed. my system uses two group-27 batteries 1/0 welding cable and 175a connectors 150a stall current. i ran the wire in and returned for them to install the lugs on the ends of the cable. bryan .
