Q: on mon 27 dec 2004 max340 wrote interesting. i went to the sight and now i see all you have is the same lights i got stock. if i understand this correctly you installed a relay on your existing circuit and powered the better lights via that relay. stunning technology. where the problem is insufficient quality of original components no stunning technology is needed -- just better quality components. glad you are happy with the upgrade. however it seems to me that stern is selling you something that almost anyone could come up with. no debate there thats obvious. thing is it can be difficult-to-impossible to track down all the best variants of the components needed to build a headlamp relay harness. bulb sockets for 9004/9007 bulbs with 12ga wire rather than the 16ga or 18ga wire found on the original sockets and on parts store replacements are a prime example. lots of companies make relays and even more companies sell em but not all of them stock a 30a relay with dual output terminals and diode suppression of trigger circuit spikes. other relay configurations can be made to work but none as cleanly or conveniently. similarly there are hundreds of fuseholder designs on the market and many of them can be made to work adequately but the ones ive got are of a form factor very well suited to this particular task. and then theres the cost aspect. the dealer parts guy is gonna cluck his tongue and tell you you cant install the sport lamps in a regular ram without a factory headlamp harness costing several hundred dollars. and that harness like virtually all factory headlamp wiring setups chrysler has used over the last four decades will tend to starve the bulbs. in that context spending $79 and 90 minutes to roll your own with my parts kit or the functional equivalent purchased elsewhere makes a fair bit of sense. -ds sorry max...i lost interest long ago in continuing the pissing contest you started all those years ago. youll hafta pick a fight with someone else if you want one. .
