there are good honest dealerships out there. but its the dishonest ones that make us unable to trust any dealerships. but when i find a good dealership i tend to stick with them and tell others. but since were complaining about dealerships here are acouple of my stories 1 p/u my truck at the dealership and notice a trail of oil behind the truck as they drove it up. they hadt screwed the drain plug on tight. 2 drop my truck off and its there overnight for repairs. during the night it rained. i go to pick it up teh next day and noticed that the inside of my truck is soaking wet. mechanic had forgotten to roll the windows up and yes the windows were up when i dropped it off at 5 am. 3 brought my own oil to the dealership i like to use mobil-1 and the dealer doesnt offer that. told the sa to use my oil and he wrote the wo up as such. i go to pu the truck and noticed that my unopened bottles were still there. i asked the sa about this i didnt tell him that teh bottles where there-i asked if teh mechanic had used my oil and he had said yes and then brought him over to teh truck and showed him the bottles. 4 took my truck in for a oil/filter change and this dealership uses mobil-1 of course at a greatly inflated rate. 3 thousand miles later i get my oil anlayized and im told that conventional oil not synethic oil was in the crankcase. i then went to teh dealership with the report and asked them about it and of course they denied it. i then suggested that they get the oil anlayized to see for themselves. they refused and of course i never returned. on thu 21 aug 2003 141215 -0500 mike simmons mikesim@fidnet.com wrote ok i went a little long on rotating my tires. they have 15k on them. before i rotated them there was no problem and a smooth ride but after rotating them it shakes the snot out of you between 60 and 70 mph. was it too late to rotate will it smooth out over time or should i put them back where they were and forget rotating them. p265 75r 15 criss cross rotation. thanks. last time in dealer while awaiting my daks reg service there was a women in there fit to be tied due to same problem on her caravan recommendation was rebalancing all 4 wheels at quite a cost didnt hear if she went for it or who paid - balancing did sound logical as a solution. ron think about it that is a real quick buck for the dealer and unless you can prove that the wheel weights had been moved or removed what are you going to do maybe take a nice close-up digital photo of each wheel before you take it in for rotation next time and maybe you can catch them in the act. the only other legit reason for them being out of balance would be that the wheels and tires were balanced as an assembly while they were mounted on the vehicle thus the counterweights were balancing the brake drum also. years ago at a gm dealer i worked at we would do just that if the vibration was being a problem. therefore if you rotated the tires not knowing that was what was done the results would be a very bad vibration. it tickles me to see the posts on this ng and the length posters feel we dealers will go to to screw people and the lengths photos of each wheel they feel the consumer must go to to avoid being screwed! jeesh guys... get a life! we have much better things to do with our time than to sit around trying to figure out how to screw the next customer that comes in the door..... if you read the original post the poster indicated he went a liitle long before his first tire rotation... 15k miles..... yeah.... exactly twice as long as recommended..... and if he was a conscientious about his tire pressures as he was about his rotation schedule do you think it may be possible that his tires were worn a mite unevenly leading to cupping...... hmmmmmm and then when they were finally rotated the uneven tire wear was demonstrated to him as a vibration i think this is much more plausible than the dealer trying to screw him.... but then what do i know mike mr rather b. beachen to you ratherbbeachen@hotmail.com .

i know there are a coupla service managers who hang out here so i thought id ask if $700 plus change seems like a reasonable figure to replace a fuel pump on a 97 dak. they quoted $400 and something for the pump less than $200 at napa and the rest was labor 2 hours and 15 minutes from the time they called for approval till the time they called and said it was ready for pickup. seems awfully high to me....thats at least $150 per hour just for the labor!! but id be happy to hear some rationale. hmm ive got a 93 ramcharger last april while returning from l.a. the fuel pump decides to die close to yuma az took it to the local dealer where it died on cue. repairs took 2 days pump had to come from phoenix replaced the pump relay and o2 sensor for just over $800.00. yeah i thought it was kind of high too. .

i just but this truck privately and the ac will not blow cold air. when the system is running if you feel the evaporator and condenser lines in the engine compartment one is real hot the other is real cold just like they should be. thats not an indication that the system is charged enough to remove any heat from the vehicles passenger compartment....just so you know. however its possible all is ok there and you have a blend door issue asn mentioned later in teh thread. i would be looking for a broken vac line or a bad control switch. it sounds like the door is closing properly when you slide the temp lever to the coldest setting you can hear the thump as it seats against a mating surface. the control is a cable not a vacuum system like i thought it might be. what is everyones opinion on the charging kits that are sold in the stores that have a pressure gauge with them to recharge the system. do the work or not. and yes i do have mechanical knowledge so it is not like i am lost with everything. lol i dont like them. why one freaking tiny gauge you cant tell jack with only a low suction side reading...and thats a fact. that was what i was looking for. thanks for the help. and yes i comprehend just what you are saying about cold being the absent of heat. i am familiar with the principals of a/c operation so everything that was discussed makes since. i just have to figure out where to look to see if it is a non-refrigeration issue such as the mixer door or something like that. it would really burn me up to have to pay a mechanic for something simple like that to be repaired. i have worked as a machinist for the last 30 years so i can do anything mechanical as long as i know what it is and have the tools for it. by the way the cold being the absence of heat is in the same category as a rule that photographers use which is a serious hobby of mine. darkness is the absence of light. you cannot project darkness only remove light to make something seem darker in relation to the surrounding light. .

my son sent off for a vcr tape from them a few years back and im trying to get input from people that might have some experience with the quality of training. thanks mike. budd mike simmons wrote budd i have no experience with wyoming tech. i would assume however that it is a good school if it is accredited and recognized by the va. the gummint usually wont letcha waste your money on shysters. mike mike a question from my son. when he gets out of the navy he plans to use his vet pay to go to wyoming tech and train in everything he can; gas diesel trans body work even customizing and business management. whats your opinion of the school and the training if youve had any experience with them thanks! budd mike simmons wrote yup! not only are the schools paid for by the company but the techs are paid their normal salary while they are attending school. mike mike simmons wrote in our shop a fully certified l1 tech gets $24.00/hr plus benefits. mike but will your shop pay for the schools .
