Q: wasnt there a test a few years ago with the cummins and a bunch of filters iirc the stock filter produced more power than any of them. ive been looking and cant seem to find it. i believe youre thinking of the test that joe donnelly did where he compared dyno numbers between several aftermarket filters stock filter and no filter and found no discernable hp differences between them. however that was a simple static dyno test one shot each. during sustained testing particularly while towing its been shown that several different aftermarket filtration systems produced lower egts than the stock setup. also as far as filtration goes... true the stock filter is up there among the best in filtration. however at least on the 3rd gen trucks the filter box is pretty much crap and known to warp and distort allowing air to bypass the filter media. .
