Q: now the one talking bs is you. what does stock have to do with anything it is still an engine just the same and more cooler air translates into more hp. that stock puter as you call it does monitor both air flow and temp and when it sees more cooler air it responds to it. we are not talking 100 hp gains and in some vehicles the gains may be so small as to be non-existant but you cannot say that about every stock truck. stock is what this whole thing was about. as you say the gains may not be much and in fact nonexistant. we finally agree. as i said before the cost of these things probably wont be recovered in fuel savings. i never said that it would give huge improvements in every truck but you cannot validly say that no improvements would be made in any stock truck either. and then again there is the bling factor that to some people is worth every penny that these things cost. there test results prove you wrong and even if these hp and mileage claims are from two different trucks and happen to be the highest in the group that they tested the fact that it did happen is enough. huh ya sorta lost me here. let me explain it then. in order for k&n or any of them to legally make those claims they have to have done it. they could have found that in one model and year of truck a that they were getting a 12 hp increase factory filter was way too small and in completely different truck b that they managed a 3 mpg gain highly restrictive ducting. now they can say that with their product you could get up to 12 hp and up to 3 mpg gains because they have seen it but nothing in the wording claims any specific vehicle and in most cases you will not get close to either one of these increases while otherwise stock. regard testing k&n was repeatedly asked to show up at bloomington and carlisle2 corvette shows and do a public before and after dyno pull to substantiate their hp claims. as far as i know they never accepted that of. probably because their hp increases did not occur with the vette especially since it is a sports car and probably already has enough air flow capability because hp is the name of the game for a car like that but for most passenger cars and trucks max hp at any cost is not exactly a priority for the manufacturer. anyway this has been beaten around enuff. im done. fair enough but for a while the group had some life in it again. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving .
