Q: on wed 09 mar 2005 202902 -0500 keydoszius keydoszius@nospam.iwon.com wrote my transmission seems to sometimes forget to shift. it will go through the first two gears fine then will rev up to 3500rpm. i have to take my foot off the accelerator and then it seems to shift into gear fine. it does tis frequently. also it doesnt shift into reverse right away. any suggestions i dont know about the problem with reverse but we just had the identical problem with our 99 ram... wouldnt shift into 3rd unless you backed off the gas... if you backed off but didnt back off long enough when you gave it gas it felt like it was in neutral.. sound familiar they changed a valve body or something.. it helped but still shifted not quite right... got progressively worse until the original problem came back.. about 6 months and 3000 miles later we just got it back after the dealer did a complete transmission rebuild... they said that the oil was burnt and that there was metal in the fluid etc... glad we had that extended warranty! mac please remove splinters before emailing .

i cant figure out your motive for posting this link. the article is at the symantec website and the title of the article is do symantec antivirus products detect jokes adware or spyware the simple answer is no and while their products can detect some of these threats the antivirus software is designed to only protect against hopefully all forms of computer viruss. while symantecs current av software can protect against some of these other problems that is not what it is designed or intended to do. i would never expect an antivirus program to protect my pc from jokes adware or spyware. these items are in an entirely seperate setup compared to virus virii trojans et al. this is the domain of the various antispyware programs that are growing in popularity. and these are where you should look for protection against those jokes adware or spyware threats. the automotive comparison would be to expect that if you keep a good coat of wax on the painted surfaces of the vehicle that this would somehow be expected to protect the internal surfaces of the engine. you cannot expect an automotive or computer product that is designed to offer protection at some level in one area to excel in more than one area of protection. with the possible exception of never connecting to the internet backed up by never loading a program from a disk. if spyware was classified as a virus then yes nav should catch it. but until then its simply a nuisance you have to resolve some other way. .

if i can find a way to put cheap pumps whether 150.00 dollar pumps as ive seen on a site relayed to me in response to my original post or some marketer of general automotive supplies then i will no longer have to sweat the filtration of the fuel. many people are running the holley blue pump available through summit racing http//www.summitracing.com as well as just about any auto parts store in the country its a holley after all.... look through http//www.dieseltruckresource.com in the 2nd gen. forums. replacing the factory lift pump with an aftermarket is one of the most popular topics discussed due to the weak-as-hell factory-style lift pump. the biggest problem i think i face now is the uncertainty of the condition of the injector pump yep - that was one of the first thoughts i had as well. like you said though not a whole lot you can do about it now. you are looking at around $2000 for a replacement pump plus the labor of installing it not a simple swap-out either - the front cover has to come off and it needs to be timed correctly lest you screw up your injection timing. manual pressure gauge on the system and run that in the cab; perhaps a regular 0-60 or 0-80 psi fuel pressure gauge youll never see pressures that high... stock pressure are less than 15psi - and even aftermarket pumps dont usually run beyond 20psi or so. fuel pressure gauges can be had in the 0-30 or 0-35psi range - these will be fine. id go with an electric gauge so you dont have to deal with a fuel isolator or run a fuel line into the cab. the electric gauges allow you to keep the pressure sensor in the engine compartment. .

frank wrote moparman wrote .....never open an email from someone you dont know even if its scanned first if the dood just invented the virus there is no protection for it yet. but like you said the virus or worm can be sent from people you do know so opening an attachment from anybody can be potentially dangerous. if its from someone you know and youre suspicious give them a call or send them an email asking if they sent you one. if the reply is no then you know. - but what if they are then suspicious of the email you sent to them so they send you another email asking you about the email you sent them asking about the email they sent you .

moparman wrote ive heard this too. but it did not apply specifically to ad-aware or spybot it was to lesser know products that sounded like these products. so far our it department hasnt had issues with these two products. could be a urban legend or just slander in order to discredit these products and convince you to switch to another product. but one would think that if you where to run a competing product to spybot or ad-aware would it not detect the others spy or ad virus. further if you where running a firewall zonealarm for example would it not detect unauthorized access to the internet. just my thoughts now i gotta go outside and paint the exhuast manifolds on my truck. high sierra wrote generally when you install a new program specially a download you have either given permission for the program to open a port to use or it asked you and you said yes. they are sneaky bastards. go out to the home and garden web site and look at the million dollar house they are giving away in tyler texas. itll ask you to register for the free drawing...when you do youll get 50 emails by morning from all the world and your adware zone alarm and everything else wont catch it. well duh ................ you just authorized then to use your email address. doesnt mean they tried to install something on your computer. jerry keep your head in the sand its okay! -- moparman---remove clothes to reply! --scud coordinates 32.61204 north 96.92993 west-- .

suddenly without warning high sierra exclaimed 3/13/2005 348 pm moparman wrote thats what i was saying earlier. these programs you are downling to get rid of certain things are actually installing there own virus/worm on your machine. they now can see what and where you go on the web. please explain in detail how ad-aware or spybot or any of the other free adware checkers install spyware on your system. in other words supply some proof of your unfounded allegation. id like to see some proof too. if ad-aware installed spyware wouldnt something like spybot or mss beta product report it and please dont tell me its a big conspiracy that theyre all working together. i think youre getting spyware assassin and other miscreants confused with true spyware removal products. if they did what you say *someone* *somewhere* in the computer business would report it - certainly it would have been reported on /. slashdot by now yes .
