if you were light footed on the throttle the ol 727s used to have an early 1-2 upshift. mike nope 727 / 904 use thottle pressure vs governor pressure any shop manual for a 318 /727 combo will have adjustment info g throttle linkage adjusted properly not sure what should i look for does the 727 shift off vaccuum -- nathan w. collier http//7slotgrille.com http//utilityoffroad.com .

dudlee i took the advice i got here and had the repair shop take a look. they said after the truck warms up that the converter does cut off the exhaust flow. so i had it replace as well as a new set of spark plugs they were pretty fouled. the car ran fine for about 5 miles it got me back home. then when i ran it later it went about two miles and did the same thing. now iot wont start smells as if the fuel is very rich. any ideas thanks mike mike with emissions test equipment you can prove that is is the cat. we have replaced several experiencing the same problems - and it only gets worse. you wont believe the power becuase it gradually dis-appears. we are an automotive jobber store and the best price and quality combined we have found is the mopar/dodge cat. the last one net was arround $38x.xx i believe. and yes - the ram only has a fuel filter/screen in the tank w/ the fuel pump assy. -- dudlee brennfoerder edgar ne 68935 i have a 1995 dodge ram 1500 truck. when its not hot i can start and drive it ok but after a while it loses power. it used to go weeks between power loss then days now i can drive it 10 minutes and it starts to lose power. at first i thought it was dirty fuel injectors. i put injector cleaner through it and it seemed to help. but im starting to think its something else. any suggestions i am considering new plugs wires and coil and new fuel filter. maybe it is the fuel injectors. id appreciate any tips thanks mike .

i have the 5.9 and the problem was with speeeds over 55 on the highway not city. you must have the 4.7 or 5.2 engine. turn off the overdrive when towing. the higher revs wont hurt it. unless your city driving is at speeds that make it shift in and out of overdrive 35 to 45 mph you can leave the overdrive on. bill if i am pulling it in overdrive on the thruway or wherever going 65mph it feels like i have to almost floor it to get enough to keep a consistent speed sometimes. especially if there are some hills not steep. sometimes i have to punch it to get back to the speed i was kind of if i had cruise control on this is an enclosed trailer around 2000 pounds with sleds.i noticed if i turn the overdrive off it seems much smoother and no problems of course the engine is revving higher. i understand there is a lot of drag with enclosed trailers. but this isnt a lot of weight. when exactly are you supposed to turn the overdrive off i know in the city i should turn it off. can i turn it off at speeds that high will it make gas mileage a lot worse by the way it was very windy

i am sure somebody on e bay has a performer for a 318 which has the correct ports for 318 heads. all the bs about using a 360 one is just that bs. any of these posters telling you to do that need to have a predawn visit from you!!!! the ports on the 360 are so much bigger and cause so much reversion youll hate the truck or yourself for doing it that way a nice 600 cfm holley/carter whatever willl work fine ill start watching reality tv shows when i can vote people off the planet. .

according to performance dodge its not available yet. but dodge is saying should be available in a few days. currently on hold due to some exhaust clamp issue... but no diesel trucks on the assembly line after the middle of dec. had either the 235hp or the 305hp engine... theyre all getting the 325hp. .

we have a 99 ram qc with 5.9/auto/3.55 gears... pulling a 5000 trailer we find that our mileage is best if we just leave od locked out... as you have found it seems to require more gas pedal to maintain speed in od even on flat ground... i dont see this as a power thing as much as a tranny thing... i figure that you may/may not be hurting your truck to tow in od but you know that you cant hurt it by driving with od locked out... where did you hear that at jerry .

anybody want to share their mileage figures for a dodge v10 pickup 95 2500 regular cab 4x4 automatic limited slip- 89026 miles at last fillup. total gallons used to that point- 7905.839. overall mileage- 11.26 this includes about 6000 miles towing a very heavy fifth wheel hundred of miles beach driving 4x4 deep soft sand. on the interstate i hold about 70 - 75. usual highway mileage- about 14. best ever recorded- 17.5 highway under ideal conditions. paul johnson compulsive record keeper . 222 276458 4011bdf9.1060106@earthlink.net mark elliott wrote we must also point out that pulling that trailer in overdrive on the highway will reduce your engine braking ability. you are not hurting the truck just be carefull and remember that if you want to slow down you may have to brake. this is why manufacturers dont recomend od when hauling it is a safety issue forgot to edit the last post ............ anyway putting aside the fact that is not the reason you normally dont use od while towing where did you hear that at jerry .
