Lighting short Painful update
From : chevguy
Q: ok. i removed the trailer wiring harness. i need someone who is familiar with dodge wiring harnesses. i unhooked what i believe to be the main harness that feeds all the back lights. it was located about 8 from the drivers side frame rail. the harness plug itself is a flat pronged rectangular plug. is this not the right one the brake lights stop working with this unplugged. i go to the back taillight pull a bulb out ground the ohmmeter check the socket and there is 3 - 3.5 ohms resistance. the fuse block still shows .5 ohms res. to ground. when will the madness end hello all. i was wondering if anyone here has had this trouble. there is a short that causes both the taillights and dash lights to blow their fuses. everything else works fine. this just started happening. is there a common problem that i can check for or am i going to have to bear the cold and crawl around with my millimetre this is on my friends 89 dodge ram p/u. any advice or links of wiring diagrams would be greatly appreciated! the first thing i would look at is to see if the problem may be in the trailer towing wiring harness if the truck has one. this harness/connector is usually left dangling and thus is subject to physical damage which may be creating a short. if the truck doesnt have the tt wiring harness or the harness checks ok then you have no recourse but to get out the multimeter and have at it.... or wait til spring ^ hope this helps! chryco service manager member sae .

i am going to mount a normal din radio in a 1999 dodge ram 1500. i bought a scosche installation kit from walmart. it appears that it has a front mounting bracket but absolutely nothing to support the rear. because the opening for the radio is larger than the radio it seems that the rear of the radio will be unsupported. is that true and if so how can i make the radio mounted in a more stable fashion. i .

hi i just installed a din pioneer radio in my sons dakota and had the same problem. the front of the radio had four mounting holes in the front bracket. i couldnt devise anyway to support the back of the radio without a whole lot of work but with just the 4 screws in the front it was pretty stable the pioneeer wasnt as heavy as the factory radio. what you can do if you want to go to the trouble is make a shelf that attaches to the bottom of the radio and cut the legs the length to where the back of the radio sits at the proper height but theres really no way to attach the bottom of the bracket to the dash. hope this helps. i am going to mount a normal din radio in a 1999 dodge ram 1500. i bought a scosche installation kit from walmart. it appears that it has a front mounting bracket but absolutely nothing to support the rear. because the opening for the radio is larger than the radio it seems that the rear of the radio will be unsupported. is that true and if so how can i make the radio mounted in a more stable fashion. i .

maybe i will simply glue a couple of pieces of wood to the bottom of the radio. i hi i just installed a din pioneer radio in my sons dakota and had the same problem. the front of the radio had four mounting holes in the front bracket. i couldnt devise anyway to support the back of the radio without a whole lot of work but with just the 4 screws in the front it was pretty stable the pioneeer wasnt as heavy as the factory radio. what you can do if you want to go to the trouble is make a shelf that attaches to the bottom of the radio and cut the legs the length to where the back of the radio sits at the proper height but theres really no way to attach the bottom of the bracket to the dash. hope this helps. i am going to mount a normal din radio in a 1999 dodge ram 1500. i bought a scosche installation kit from walmart. it appears that it has a front mounting bracket but absolutely nothing to support the rear. because the opening for the radio is larger than the radio it seems that the rear of the radio will be unsupported. is that true and if so how can i make the radio mounted in a more stable fashion. i .

i have no idea why they wont do a public dyno test i guess they feel they dont have to prove their product in such a way. im guessing even if they did it still wouldnt be good enough for some people. i take issue with people who claim a paper element is a superior filter where is the proof for this ive been a car guy for a long time and have seen many very expensive cars at shows and in magazines that use these filters and if they are as shitty as some would have you believe then a lot of people are being duped. as p.t. barnum once said .....theres one born every minute.... mike . going to be interesting what the studies reveal in about 5 years. what that youre an idiot. k&n had been in business since 1969 and are well respected except by the experts on usenet. i was going to stay the hell out of this bs thread until i read this. answer me this rick why wont k$n do a before and after dyno pull at a public event they have been asked numerous times. all their tests that i am aware of have been done at a facility that they either own or pay for. i have noticed that they have backed away from their 20hp gain claims. they have been real good at marketing their product though. roy .
