moparman wrote drove the new 05 3500 dually from dallas to churchville ny. left on saturday and got home last night about 6pm. 3088 miles. picked up my new 34 foot 5th wheeler. its the first time ive towed with the turbo-d. i loved my 2500 hemi truck but it couldnt hold a candle to the 610 foot pounds of torque this baby cranks out. it towed like it wasnt there. up the hills down the hills around the corners etc. im sure the duallies help to stabilize the ride better than a standard ass end but i couldnt believe it. my wife kept asking me why i had this shit eattin grin on my face......... anyway im glad i bought it. i got 18 mpg going up to ny and 11 mpg coming home. i only took it outta drive once cause i had to start from a dead stop at the bottom of a mountain but other than that i didnt use the tow switch. i used the cruise control when not in the cities. never had any problem with it shifting allot on hills either. i prolly could have gotten better mileage but i was cruising at 75 to 80 on the open roads for most of the trip. the radar detector saved my ass many a times but i cant just do the speed limit. i have an authority problem and it was nascars big opening weekend. its nice to own a truck you know can pull a building off its foundation.....if i do much more long trips like this one i think ill go ahead an invest in sirus. east coast country radio sucks. you will not be dissapointed in the sirius. maybe youll even find theres other music out there than country. not necessarily better just different. ;- dodge wants a bundle to install sirius though it is factory and you dont have to worry about head-units flopping around. if you have the right radio to begin with its basically a plug in operation. you may get a much better deal going through best buy or some other stereo outlet but again its not the same as from the factory. i have a bmw 330ci and they want less than dodge to install. now thats wierd. jeff .

any time the abs light comes on the brake light will as well. in many cases it is the rear wheel speed sensor but not always. -- if at first you dont succeed youre not cut out for skydiving i have a 99 ram 1500 and recently the abs as well as the parking brake light came on. not sure if this was a coincidence or a related problem. what does this mean and what do i need to do to address this problem or occurrence thanks for any help or info you might share. tha ragman .

hi there is a place here in california that is called redline. they sell the carb as well as have the information you need to pass smog. smog board here in california recommended them. the weber is a good carb but expensive. your smog board has all the information like the smog carb approvals. ive fixed the stock carbs on those. you just have to make sure that all the ports are very clean and that all the hoses are good and correctly hooked up. it should be a fairly easy task to replace. you do need the approval number from your government smog board so that you may present it at smog check time. good luck. jessie studehdtp53 wrote i have a 1989 dodge ram 50 that i would like to convert over to the weber carb and eliminate all the vacuum hoses that run to the orginal carb except for the distributor advance. wonder if any of you have any experience with one of these convesion kits problems performance thanks .

hi i swapped out my 360 for a 440 in a 75 w100. im assuming that you have a stick. i was able to buy the bellhousing from the dealer here in san diego. i dont know if they still make them. the place is carl burgers dodge in la mesa. 619-463-9321. there is a mopar specialty wrecking yard in spring valley that mail orders anywhere. they are sweetwater auto wrecking. i got the motor mounts. flywheel and oil pan from them. they seem resonable in pricing. they are at 619-475-1005. you can get the electronic distributer from mopar performance brand new. they will sell you a complete kit that is just like a stock kit with interchangable parts from all auto parts places. they include a distributer ballast resister ignition module performance and a wiring harness and diagram. im sorry but i dont know theyre number. it is an 800 number though. any dodge dealer should have the phone number. you need the bellhousing flywheel distributer oil pan dipstick and motor mounts. sometimes you need to adapt the mounts to fit. i had to weld one longer. mine were originally from a van. the bb 413 and 440 have a special flywheel that is either balanced or unbalanced i dont remember. the 360 flywheel is balanced for the 360 and will not work on the big block. it will cause vibration. the bb flywheel is perfectly smooth with no balancing holes. you must also know the tooth count on the flywheel. sweetwater can help you with that. last time i checked the new bellhousings they were from a 78-79 dodge truck. they were about $480.00. the earlier ones were discontinued. you need the truck oil pan. the large sump is in the rear. i am running a modified 440 with a cam pistons headers and the stock thermoquad. the thermoquads should be rebuilt carefully. despite popular vote the carb is a good carb for performance. i can spin the large tires and do over 120 with a large trailer. the 360 i had was good in the dirt but lousy on the freeway. i get alot more power from the 440 as well as better gas mileage if i dont jump on it. i also have a bb auto transmission tail assembly for the 727. actually i have the complete tranny. i just havent got around to rebuilding it. be careful not to buy an earlier bellhousing as the old ones were cast iron and made for a hydraulic clutch. they are also longer. you can also run any starter. the dodges are good that way. good luck. jessie fyrfly wrote im searching for all the required parts to swap a 360ci for a 413ci in a 1982 350 power ram. a bellhousing flywheel and a bb electronic ignition distributor. if you have any info on these parts many thanks for your time. fyrfly .

roy wrote my new truck is getting only about 15 mpg. my dads 1997 averages 20 mpg or better. my truck only has about 11000 miles on it. is my fuel mileage average or just too early to tell while the engine breaks in i had read some time ago that you will not get your best mpg until after 15k from the cummins.com dodge ram faq how many miles does the cummins engine require for break-in in general 5000 miles. this depends on the type of driving the truck is subject to; hauling or towing a load will shorten the break-in period. light duty hauling or babying the engine can delay full engine break-in for up-to 20000 miles. .

johnnyd wrote my mechanic didnt find any stored codes but he did respray the ignition wires and found the rear wire nearest passenger seat arcing. today while driving at around 45 mph the ram began to buck 8 cyl gas auto 4x4 43000 miles then the check engine light came on so i pulled over . when i restarted an hour later she ran fine. it was raining when it first happened. any ideas i did spray the ignition wires with water when i got home but it seemed ok. thanks in advance -- johnnyd i have a 2001 ram 2500 that was bucking at 45 mph and the engine light came on.i hade it tested and they told me that cylinder number six was misfiring.i replaced the spark plugs with double platinum champion plugs. replaced the wiresdistributor cap and rotor.the light went off immediately and the bucking was gone.the truck also regained a lot of power.i would change wiresplugscap and rotor.im glad i did! ronnie -- posted using the http//www.autoforumz.com interface at authors request articles individually checked for conformance to usenet standards topic url http//www.autoforumz.com/dodge-1999-ram-bucks-ftopict91295.html visit topic url to contact author reg. reqd. report abuse http//www.autoforumz.com/eform.phpp=483918 .

steve k2 wrote or was i my 1999 dodge ram 4x4 had i think what they call a cat-back muffler system it sounded tough and had dual exhaust. money is tight right now in the old household so i figured seeing how it was time to replace the muffler and pipes that it would be too expensive to get the same system put back on my truck. so i went to kost tire and muffler here in upstate ny opting for just the plain jane tail pipe and muffler all the way from the converter on back. first he wanted to charge me $310.00. i somehow talked him down to $278.00. i also asked him how much two snow tires would be for a 98 camry $110.00 was his lowest price on the tires. i declined but i had them put the muffler and pipe on. i almost walked out but wasnt sure where else to go. i think im gonna learn how to do these myself. i later paid $65 a piece for some damn good snow tires elsewhere.. did i get hosed on the exhaust thanks steve that is a reasonable price to switch back to a regular exhaust.im putting a flowmaster dual exhaust kit on my truck and its going to cost twice as much as what you payed so dont worry about it. ronnie -- posted using the http//www.autoforumz.com interface at authors request articles individually checked for conformance to usenet standards topic url http//www.autoforumz.com/dodge-ripped-ftopict103475.html visit topic url to contact author reg. reqd. report abuse http//www.autoforumz.com/eform.phpp=483700 .
