if all this is true then why dont the other manufacturers leather steering wheels get gucky like this . i love dodge but think the leather or whatever it is they are using is shit. i had a ford explorer with leather wrap and it never did this tom mike simmons wrote i see this occurring from time to time and its being caused by perspiration from your hands and colognes that are used. like any leather product it should be treated with leather conditioner from time to time before any degradation occurs. my leather steering wheels have always stayed like new with proper care. chryco service manager member sae i guess as a chryco service manager you dont get your hands dirty! ;^ yeah riiiiight! ;^ mike .

if it still pulls when you apply the brakes the same as when no brakes are applied - it is not the brakes assuming the left brake is working but an alignment or tire issue. are these the factory tires does it do it when they are rotated remember that roads are banked to the right so water will not stand. that tends to force the vehicle to pull to the right. if it pulls to the right when driving in the left lane on a 4 lane/interstate then there is something wrong. -- tony my boats at http//t.thomas.home.mchsi.com bob m wrote joseph myers wrote swap all tires side to side. i already did that. still pulls to the right. ive never had a vehicle do this after an alignment. i love my ram but damn! bob yup. just got it back and it pulls to the right. shop says its in spec. its really driving me nuts. would it hurt it any if i have the shop align it just out of spec so it doesnt pull to the right bob -- takeoff is an option. landing is a must! and in the end on wheels we will depend. i took it back to the shop and now they are telling me i have a sticky brake caliper. they say the front passenger caliper is not releasing the inner brake pad all the way. i dont know if i believe this since when i appy the brakes the truck doesnt pull any worse nor does it stop pulling to the right. im not too sure the shop isnt just trying to get another $200 out of me. anyone have any ideas or comments about this be nice. g is there a good way to test the caliper if it does need to be replaced how hard is it to replace one i do have the tools as well as the dodge factory service manual on cd. i imagine the hardest part would be bleeding the brakes. bob -- takeoff is an option. landing is a must! and in the end on wheels we will depend. .

i just bought a 98 durango and it appears that there is some thin layer peeling off the leather steering wheel as well. honestly i thought it was some coating that cheap ass used car dealers use on steering wheels like that to make them look better temporarily until the new owner gets it home. i have been doing my best to peel all the crap off the wheel and will use some leather treatment on it if i ever do get it off. the leather underneath the coating is just a flat color and leather texture. i hae an 01 dakota with same type of steering wheel and it shows no sign of peeling and looks and feels good. ben i have a 2002 dodge quad cab that looks like the steering wheel cover is disintegrating. anybody else have this problem is the cover leather i am trying to clean it with leather cleaner but black stuff just keeps flaking off of it. thanks duane .

you wont believe this i have a 1996 that the steering wheel is in very good shape as far as pealing. the pebble finish is worn smooth in my normal grip area but the rest is fine. no i dont take the time to make sure my hands are clean i make a living as a welder and my hands are completely black at the end of the day. i have never used a leather treatment on it just some soap and water. was always afraid that protectants would make it slick. might be the protectants breaking down the leather by making it to soft or do you people wear cologne/after shave you might still have some on your hands in the morning the alcohol might be doing it. just my two cents. gary carter duane and anne wrote i am trying to clean it with leather cleaner but black stuff just keeps flaking off of it. the experience i have had with leather cleaner is the more you use it the more you are destroying your steering wheel. i used 3m leather/vinal cleaner on the wheel on my eagle vision and it kept taking more of the leather off. however i think a conditioner will work better. just a little cleaner and a little conditioner and you should be good to go. but it sounds like the damage has already been done. hope this helps! -- nick right nick! the cleaner is somewhat alkaline and overuse will damage the leather. i usually spray the cloth i am cleaning with liberally with the cleaner and wipe the dirt off. then after allowing the wheel to dry thoroughly i apply a very light coat of leather conditioner allow it to soak in and then buff off with a clean cloth. mike remove number one if replying by electronic mail .
